sabrina140 33 Posted January 27, 2012 My surgeons office 'requires' us to purchase the Bariatric Advantage protien mixes and Vitamins for the pre-op diet. I am okay with buying the mix, but the vitamins are super expensive. Does it really make a difference what brand a multi-vit, Calcium, and B12 are?
ncstatebabe 6 Posted January 28, 2012 I don't see why it would make a difference as long as your generic brand has the same amount of nutrients. i bought the name brand ones and the absolutely suck lol. if you can find some generic Vitamins you like stick with those
Crississippi 4 Posted January 28, 2012 If you buy the Bariatric Advantage with a 90 day supply, it really isn't much worse than buying the store brands because sometimes you have to use more to get the same dose. If you go through Bariatric Choice dot com you get free shipping and % discounts off your total purchase. When I did the math, it was actually cheaper to just get the bariatric Vitamins.< /p>
Escape_Pod 358 Posted January 29, 2012 What I've read is that there are different formulations / sources for certain Vitamins, and some are more easily absorbed than others. Bariatric vitamins like BA are formulated with the best quality ingredients for maximum absorption. To me the chewable Multivitamins are ok (I like the Celebrate ones better), but the BA calcium chews are the best!! Like a starburst chew or tootsie roll depending on the flavor. sabrina140 33 Posted January 29, 2012 Thanks for the tips everyone I went ahead and ordered the BA brand products, mostly for convienience and it IS what the doctor 'ordered' I suppose... As time progresses I will find Vitamins at my local store that I like to replace those. Thanks again
