fluffypillow 0 Posted January 27, 2012 I am almost 5wk post op and only losing about 1lb a week. How many calories should I be having a day? I am prob only getting between 400-
Lissa 2,631 Posted January 27, 2012 More importantly, are you drinking at least 64 oz of Water a day and getting in 70g of Protein? Both of these are more important than calories, although you may need to add more food to your diet. Most of us have a stall at 3-5 weeks where our bodies are readjusting to our new eating habits. Also, you started at a lower BMI, so you may lose more slowly than some others lose. Really, you should ignore the scale and pay attention to your measurements and how your clothes are fitting. Muscle weighs more than fat, so, if you're exercising, you are trading icky fat for healthy muscle, even if the scale isn't budging yet. It will happen. Have faith!! 1 fluffypillow reacted to this
Sammi25 18 Posted January 27, 2012 i had a bmi of 53 to start and on average i have lost 11lbs a month but i started at 310 lbs. my surgeon said 1lb a week is actually right on target for healthy weight loss but the larger your starting # the more weight you will lose per week. sounds like you are doing perfect i agree though that if you are not getting enough nutrients and Water your weight loss will slow down because your body goes into fat storage mode! 1 fluffypillow reacted to this
fluffypillow 0 Posted January 27, 2012 Thanks for the advice. I am not always getting my fluids in. I am keeping a journal I get up early to try and get fluids in. I need to see the Protein amount in my eggs, tuna, chicken and Protein Shake to make sure I am getting all my protein in. I was focusing on calories. Thanks for responding

Indymom 132 Posted January 30, 2012 Make sure you're doing your walking too! I think that made the difference in my early weight loss.
