Believinginlisa 10 Posted January 27, 2012 Husband and wife team will become " sleevers" next week on Feb. 1, 2012. Wondering if there are others in the area that have already had surgery or are newbies too. Counting down the days on pre-op liquid diet.< /p> 1 NurseGrace reacted to this
WillowsKnot 71 Posted March 27, 2012 I have not had my surgery yet, but will soon - April 16. How are you two doing? Where did you have your surgery done?
Believinginlisa 10 Posted March 27, 2012 Hi, you are so excited and full of anticipation. We had Dr. Hoehn from Shawnee Mission Bariatrics. We feel that he was a wonderful choice for us. Husband has lost about 60 and me 45. Next week will be 2 months out. Are you having the sleeve?

WillowsKnot 71 Posted March 28, 2012 Congratulations on your combined weight loss. That is just awesome!!!! I am really excited and counting down the days. I am having my surgery and KU Medical Center with Dr. Selim. I am very happy with him and his nurses/support staff. They have been just wonderful. They have made sure I have everything I need in place. Heck, I have about a 2 inch binder of stuff to read (once I printed out all the attachments they sent me) - or I should say that I have been reading to prepare for all of this. Everything from Vitamins, to my pre and post-op diets to follow, to signs and symptoms of issues that might come up, etc. Now, I just wait for my pre-op appointment which wow... is tomorrow! and then I have my EGD on April 6 then on to my surgery. I see we are both from the south side of town. I have family in Harrisonville.
WillowsKnot 71 Posted March 28, 2012 Good luck to you too Kansasgirl. Let us know how it goes for you. Nice that your husband can go with you. I would think it would be a bit much to go it alone going to Mexico and all. Take care and keep us posted. 1 kansasgirl reacted to this
isntsheclever 38 Posted April 17, 2012 Resurrecting an old post... Anyone go to support group meetings? I had my surgery in Topeka, but live in Lees Summit. I'm wondering if there are any meetings around here I can go to.

Believinginlisa 10 Posted April 21, 2012 I go to a meeting once a month at my surgeons office, but it would be great to meet and visit if there were a few of us on the Missouri side. I live in Pleasant Hill, just south of Blue Springs. Anyone interested? 1 allnewme reacted to this
isntsheclever 38 Posted April 21, 2012 I've heard that lots of meetings can be restricted to patients only... I'm in LS. I'm certainly interested. Anyone else?
WillowsKnot 71 Posted April 21, 2012 I also go to one associated with my surgeons office at KU Medwest, but I would be interested. I am in Belton, MO. Wonder if we could set a group up on Meet-up? Has anyone ever done a group on their? I belong to groups on Meet-up, but know nothing about setting one up. It is nice as far as getting meeting information out. Has anyone searched Meet-up to find if there is already a local group? Keep me posted. Karen
Believinginlisa 10 Posted April 22, 2012 I have never heard of meet-up so would need additional infor. But right now there are three of us. Belton, Pleasant Hill and Lee's Summit, we could find a meeting spot....maybe in Greenwood? See if we get any more responses coming and then try to set something up???
