Leederz 49 Posted January 27, 2012 Im going to have my surgery during my spring break from school but I was just wondering from everyone out there. What is the cheapest way to get the Protein Shakes for the 2 week pre op diet. Also for after surgery bc Im assuming I need some then too. I just paid for my school semester and now Im paying the deductible for the surgery so I am really broke. Any suggestions for inexpensive options? Thanks =)
kemo46 82 Posted January 27, 2012 I used and still do use the EAS AdvantEDGE Carb control. They are only 110 calories, 17 grams of Protein and little to no sugar. I used these because I was Diabetic. Wal-Mart sells a pack of 4 for 4.97. They taste great and they helped me through the pre and post op diets. I use them now for meal supplements.< /p> 2 carbgrl and LilMissDiva Irene reacted to this
illgeturhairdid 176 Posted January 27, 2012 As far at taste goes hands down I prefer the Isopure powders. My surgeons office sells the big tubs for $40 and you get a lot of shakes out of it using one scoop. However- mostly my pocket likes the $15 powders from Walmart. I haven't found a RTD shake yet that I like. Also, nectar offers some nice alternatives from the typical flavors of strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla. Good luck! SKCUNNINGHAM 298 Posted January 27, 2012 costco sells a ready to drink chocolate shake that is reasonably priced and tastes almost exactly like the EAS chocolate.

LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted January 30, 2012 Atkins is good too, you will also find those at Walmart. Tons of variety and IMO not that expensive.
doggz109 41 Posted February 1, 2012 You will likely be dependent on shakes for your Protein for a period of weeks to months after the sleeve also. Keep that in mind. Also.....your tastes might change so something that tastes good now might taste like vomit to you after the sleeve.....not even kidding. 1 LilMissDiva Irene reacted to this
Kiki Von Moonshine 53 Posted February 1, 2012 Are slimfast shakes okay? I have the 3 2 1 powder. Once you add the milk its 20 g of Protein. I usually add an extra cup of Water because it's pretty sweet. Making it nine ounces.
doggz109 41 Posted February 1, 2012 Are slimfast shakes okay? I have the 3 2 1 powder. Once you add the milk its 20 g of Protein. I usually add an extra cup of Water because it's pretty sweet. Making it nine ounces. Hmmm....I looked up the Slim Fast 3 2 1 chocolate Royale powder. It says that with 8 oz fat free milk it gives you 200 calories, 30g carbs, and only 10g Protein (with the milk). Those are not very good numbers. You should look for under 200 calories a serving, 20g protein, and under 15g carbs. That is the recommendation from my surgeon anyways. Now according to the slimfast webpage.....they do offer a Slim Fast 3 2 1 "High Protein" version. That is 200 calories, 25g carbs, and 15g protein (with the milk). Not sure how much of an improvement that is....but its something. Really there are much better options out there. Also.....just FYI. The first ingredient listed in the "regular" Slimfast is sugar. It is the second ingredient listed in the "high protein" version.
Formerly Fluffy 5 Posted February 1, 2012 Try Premier or Lean Dessert. Reasonable cost on both and taste GREAT!
