Melly 0 Posted January 26, 2012 Hi there, is everyone required to do the 2wk Pre Op liquid diet, or is that only for patients that have to lose a lot of weight prior to having the surgery? :confused5:
traceyc 89 Posted January 26, 2012 I am doing a 2 week pre-op diet but it is low carb/high Protein. No more than 30 carbs a day and at least 70 grams of protein. I think it is the doctor that decides what they prefer not necessarily the patient's weight.
Bedhead 158 Posted January 26, 2012 My surgeon does not require it.
Melly 0 Posted January 26, 2012 Ok, I see. They have me on the same diet as yours, only for 4 weeks! They want me to weigh 190 prior to surgery so that they have room to inflate me. (sounds weird, doesn't it?)
andkel30 57 Posted January 28, 2012 I was told that the diet isnt for weight loss( thats just a +) but to shrink your liver to make it easier to move to get to your stomach with out causing damage to your liver...
