Tomorrow I Go See The Surgeon For My First Post Op Evaluation....nervous!

Recommended Posts

SO OK.. tomorrow will be the first time my surgeon sees me since i had the surgery back on 12-12-11. Im not sure what to expect.. Im a little nervous...NO FORGET THAT IM A LOT NERVOUS! I am soooo afraid that they are gonna tell me that im behind schedule of what im supposed to be losing. Ive heard stories ad i just don't wanna come out of there disappointed in myself..

I mean im doin everything that i can, i work out, and im getting in my Water and food(sometimes) im just afraid of what they will say..

I guess the only thing that I am excited about is for them to tell me what my ACTUAL goal weight is supposed to be.. the number on my ticker is just something that I made up cuz no one ever gave me a number.. i think im actually supposed to be somewhere around 160-165 because i do have a lot of muscle, but we shall see.

ANY ADVICE?!?!?!?!?! CUZ I THINK IM GONNA STRESS OUT UNTIL TOMORROW!

I think you will be just fine. I was nervous too! I saw mine for my 3 month check up. I had an okay visit. I wouldnt say it was the greatest but he said I was doing fine. He told me that my weight loss was going to start slowing down and I needed to up my exercise if I wanted to make goal but he could tell and had no doubt that I would! He had not set a goal for me so I asked him about it. He asked me where I wanted to be and I said 135 sounded good to me and he said "me too!". He did tell me that I needed to get down to about 125 so I would have some room for rebound when my weight decided to settle out... I took the positives and ran with it. I go again Feb. 10 for my 6 month check up. Good luck tomorrow and tell us what he says!

My only advice is to take a deep breath. Everything will turn out fine. It wouldn't hurt to talk over an idea on a goal weight with your surgeon to get some kind of direction.

Let us know how it goes!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
