mommy794 119 Posted January 26, 2012 I have a 90# St. Bernard and she's a big baby who loves to love on us ...so I'm trying to figure out ways to deal with her but not totally just stick her outside and ignore her for weeks til I'm more well and able to tend to her. She's good about sitting and not jumping on you mostly unless she's really excited! lol
Cheles 75 Posted January 26, 2012 I was worried about my dogs and cats too, but thankfully, none of them jumped on me till this week. I'm 5-weeks out. I think they can sense not to do something. :-)
Foxbins 625 Posted January 26, 2012 I have two really big dogs and I was fine. I knew coming home from surgery that they would be excited to see me and probably try to jump, but they sensed that I wasn't my usual self and just licked me a lot. If I had thought of it, I might have had a few treats to throw on the floor if it looked like I was going to be jumped on. I have an Akita and a Tibetan Mastiff. mommy794 119 Posted January 26, 2012 I hope she will sense it also and be gentle LOL , she's only a yr and a half old. She's very smart so I think it will be OK but the treats for a distraction is a great idea!
thinoneday 445 Posted January 27, 2012 awwww I love big dogs. . .had a 120 lbs giant german shepherd. he loved us so much and just stuck around us like glue. he didn't jump up or anything either, so i just carried on carrying for him. took him for his walks and so on. it wasn't bad at all. actually it helped me alot. . gosh i really miss him, it's been 2 1/2 years since he died but I can't bear to get another. . . good luck and enjoy your baby! They are so much fun!

101driver 46 Posted February 16, 2012 aaawwww! Love our dogs!! Do you let him on the couch by you? Maybe some quiet cuddle time next to you. My mini daschund wants on my lap so bad. But he's content if I let him on my legs (not my tummy) if I talk sweet to him and give him lots of pets.
mommy794 119 Posted February 16, 2012 She's done pretty good, she hasn't been too rough and atleast she does sit when told. I was so happy to get the dang drain out Tues. I kept it tucked in my undies bc I'm short and the tube was alittle long LOL I was so worried it would be hanging out and the dog would snag it...thank goodness that DIDNT happen!!!
