What Food Comes After Liquid Post Op Diet?

Recommended Posts

I've been on liquids for 2 weeks now and I have my followup appt. on Wednesday. Will I hear good news and if so what's my next food choices? What was stage 2 for you?

each doctors program is different. You will probably be starting mushy foods. Things like mashed potato, thick Soup, anything soft and mushy or anything you can put into a blender and make soft.

I really hope I can start mushies. I am so tired of liquids. So much so that its hard for me to get the required supplements. Now I just gotta make it through two more days. Thanks for your help.

I'm just curious. Who did you have your surgery through? Does your team include a nutritionalist or dietician? Have they provided any program for you at all to follow?

I was only given the diet for two weeks after surgery. I suspect I will get another diet plan for 2-6 weeks and then another at my 6 week appt. I was just wanting to get an idea of what to expect. I am so looking forward to something different than liquids.

I started week three today and I got to add: yogurt, cottage cheese, tofu, re-fried Beans, mashed potato, lactose free milk, sugar free low calorie pudding, mashed hard boiled eggs. I think there might be one or two other things but that's pretty close. I have that for the next two weeks.

I made myself some pumpkin tofu custard, greek yogurt does down just fine and I made some vegetarian chili that I plan to puree. I tried last night but the yellow split peas weren't totally mushy yet. I also plan to do a little egg salad with yogurt instead of mayo.< /p>

Tomorrow I finish my 2nd week and go into my 3rd, I have a doctor's appointment and they will change my diet to blendables foods like Beans, creamier Soups, sugar free yogurt, and sugar free ice-cream along with my Protein. I love soups, but I am missing the veggies that go in it. The following week its purees for me and then, finally regular food.< /p>

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
