Protein In Clear Liquid Phase

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for ideas on clear liquid Protein drinks for the first couple of weeks post-op. Doc said it has to be in whey Protein isolate form.

Tried Pro-Stat and a couple of the Protein Shots and they are horrible. I kept wondering why people on the forum kept complaining about not being able to get their protein in--now I understand. I don't know how I'd get that down with bouts of post-op nausea.

I just tried Protein2GO drink mix and it was waaaay better. I'm just not sure whether it's considered a clear liquid since it's sort of milky and not exaclty clear. And it's only 10g of protein in a serving.

Oh, and what's the best-tasting Isopure?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!!!

Isopure...GAG. Someone today told me she calls it Isopuke, and it is a VERY fitting name. I had my surgery in August, and I still drink the Syntrax Nectars in the morning to help me get my Protein in. They have several different flavors, and best of all- not all of them are sweet!!! (Serious bonus...I was so worn out on sweet tasting junk.) Cappuccino is my favorite, but I am a MAJOR coffee drinker, and it allowed me to feed my Starbucks habit, while sticking to my regimen. (Just don't ask me about the fuzzy navel flavor. I love REAL peaches, but not peach flavored anything.)

Not very many people like Isopure. I didn't mind it, but it certainly isn't my favorite.

The syntrex nectar products are really good and the samples that you can get by calling them is a great deal. Just go to the food forum for places to get samples.

I too am not a big fan of Protein drinks. I visited my local Muscle Max store over the weekend and sampled some Protein Drinks. ISO Extreme has 2 really good flavors; berry and tropical. Those have been the best so far but I'm also planning on trying the Protein shakes from costco. A lot of people on the forum have said good things about those....

Let us know..

This is total hearsay because...honestly, I can't bring myself to have any until I absolutely have to...but I've been recommended Unjury (just ordered some). Both the unflavored (mixed in orange juice or orange flavored crystal light) and chicken broth flavored (mixed in chicken broth) have been highly recommended to me.

It's cheaper to get the sytrex nectar products directly from them. the phone number is in the places to get samples thread under Protein powders in the food forum

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
