Looking For A South/central American Plastic Surgeon

Recommended Posts

Hey there!

I got the recommendation from this board ten months ago to go to Dr. Aceves and I was *never ever* sorry I did it. It was great, it was completely safe, I had to worry about precisely nothing, they kept me drugged to the gills, and as of today I am aaaaaalmost 90 pounds lighter,

I've been exercising and watching the weight fall off month by month. I've got about 40 pounds to go and I'll be at the weight I want to be.

So I'm now thinking about plastic surgery. I want a mastopexy and *maybe* a mini-tummytuck ( we'll see in about 4 months) with a little Lipo. This seems like it would be about 20K in the states, so I'm looking to re-enact my 100 percent successful surgery a second time to save money by going to Mexico, Brazil, Argentina or Costa Rica.

I do not care to go to Bolivia or Colombia. Thanks anyway.

Has anyone here done this? Do you know of anyone who's done it? Any surgeon recommendations? I've been poking around the net but the best place for plastic surgery recommendations and reviews is RealSelf.com; but they really only cover the US.

Anybody got any intelligence on this?

Thanks!

Hey Crosswind, Congrats on the weight loss. I just had a facelift in Costa Rica 2 1/2 weeks ago. One of the women at the recovery house where I stayed aferward had a Tummy Tuck and a breast lift by Dr. Chiavarria (I know I am misspelling his name--I can email her and get the correct spelling if you're interested.) Stay away from Lieberman, Cohen, and Rosenstock in Costa Rica, lots of complaints about them. Dr. Sauceda in Mexico is highly regarded by the folks on Obesity Help and almost all of his patients are post-WLS. He's doing in-person consultations in Las Vegas this June.

I had a lot of body and face work done last month in Mexico by Dr. Sauceda. He specialized in massive weight loss and has great rates. I was there, under his care for two weeks all inclusive. He has a group over on ObesityHelp dot com. There are a lot of us over there that recently had surgery.

He will be in las Vegas in June doing consultations.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
