So I'm 7 weeks out and lost 29lbs, well I went to see my surgeon and he told me that I haven't lost enough that I need to exercise and reduce my carbs. Well I haven't exercised but as far as food I can barely eat anything and carbs are the last thing if I even have some. I will say I can't digest any sorce if Protein but all of my blood counts and levels are fine, just had that checked last week. One thing I found that I really like is bananas is that a bad thing?

My weight loss is similar to yours and I am happy with it, but I do need to start exercising, like your surgeon said. People with higher BMIs lose faster in the beginning. That is the only thing I can think of as to why your surgeon said that, but you don't have a ticker, so I don't know. Or maybe I am a slow loser and don't know it!

Do you track your foods? Many of us here use myfitnesspal.com and it works great. That will help you know how many carbs you are consuming, but most importantly if you are meeting your Fluid and Protein goals. (There is nothing wrong with bananas.) Best wishes!

Truthfully, I could care less if I'm a slow loser or a fast loser, so long as I'm a loser (of weight, that is)! :) I started at a 53 BMI, and I've lost 81 pounds in 4.5 months. IMO, that's the perfect rate of weight loss for ME.

One thing about losing slowly is that it gives your skin more of an opportunity to rebound so you will hopefully have less loose skin when you get to goal. Losing slowly also means you are probably losing more fat than muscle, which is great! Less muscle to have to rebuild.

And, numbers on the scale do NOT tell the whole story. I look for the NSVs or non scale victories. Are my pants looser? Can I walk further, do more, do I have more energy? All of those things add up, not just the pounds lost according to the scale. If you look through the gallery, ANY gallery, you'll see people who are 172 pounds that wear a size zero and people who weigh 172 who are a size 10. The differences are in height and muscle tone, usually. So the scale doesn't tell the whole story.

Muscle does weigh more than fat. Muscle also helps us burn fat, so building strong muscles is important. I stall when I work out, then a few pounds will whoosh off in a day or two. But, when I work out, I lose inches. By doing basic workouts, walking, bicycle, light weight lifting, I have lost two pants sizes in the last three weeks. I also haven't lost an ounce in over a week. Am I worried? Nope. I keep eating my Protein, drinking my Water, and working out. The weight loss will happen, but I want to be a solidly built 170, not a flabby 170.

The bonus of working out is the energy boost. IMO, everything looks better when you get that serotonin boost from working out and, BELIEVE ME, I can use that energy boost right now! :)

I must be the slowest loser anywhere. I had surgery on 11/21 st 293, got down to 282 during the liquid diet and then rebounded back to 285. At that poi t I contacted the nutritionist at my surgeons office. She had me eat a "balanced" meal. I wasn't even able to fnish it and got to 292 within a week. I went back to sleeve diet and am now back to 285. That is 8lbs in 2 months. The only car s I get are from veggies. The nutritionist said it is time to see an endocrinologist. I have an Ppt with my family doc in 2 weeks to get a referral .

The only thing that I can understand that is holding me back is the drugs I take for bipolar disorder I take two different antipsychotics, anti seizure, antianxiety and antidepressant . Yes this is a lot of drugs. Before I found this med combination I was on social security disability for 6 years. So, I can't go off of them.

Anyone else have a similar problem? It is very frustrating .

I thought I was a slow loser as well but just as longer-life mentioned the higher BMI the moreyou lose in a shorter time frame and the lower BMI you lose less but the weight comes off. This isn't really a quick fix and we wont drop all of the weight in 2 months. Just give it time and it will come off gradually. My nurse told me to be sure to take my Vitamins which consist of B1, Calcium, B12, Vitamin D and a multi vitamin- as long as i do this it helps my body and my weight lost. I am 11 wks post op today and my weight has fluctuated between 213 and 215 for the past 2 weeks. However my size 16 jeans are big on me lol and just 2 months ago i couldnt even get into these jeans.

My fitness pal is great and also try planning your meals/snacks a week ahead if you can all of this helps in losing weight.

You've received some really great advice from everyone in this thread. Just give it time and be patient OH and banana's are actually great especially for potassium thats what my DR told me but unfortunately my stomach doesnt agree with them :Banane55:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
