I think I just had my 1st, I don't regret this, moment :). First of all I don't regret the surgery, but having been pretty uncomfortable since surgery I have wondered if I have done the right thing. Anyway I woke up this morning did the normal routine, realized I was REALLY thirsty so I went to the fridge and grabbed my G2. Without even thinking I took a big ol' drink, as I started to swaollowmi realized what I did and thought crap this is gonna hurt. Low and behold it didn't! I took a normal drink of cold liquid and it didn't hurt. I'm so excited! Of course that turned to fear that I broke my sleeve, but I doubt that's possible, and I'm going to choose to believe that. It felt so good to be thirsty and take a normal drink quench that thirst :) I guess it's the little things.

yeah the first time i accidently took a bigger drink i thought the same thing and was so surprised when it didnt hurt! Took that as a sign i was healing right on track (mine was abbout 2 1/2 weeks out) and it is helping me get more Water down. No you cant "break" your sleeve lol. Keep up the good work and enjoy the little things :-)

I was such a scardy cat, I didn't start taking big drinks of Fluid until I read on this site that other people were having no difficulties with it. Low and behold, I didn't have any pain. Thank God I can finally get enough fluids in.... This is a NSV! ;)

Yes, thirst is a big issue for me. I seem to always be thirsty for Water. I am one week out also. And, I am now on full liquids and everything is so darn sweet ! Sweets were not my problem. I am a real food person and salt stuff person. Just tired of everything being sweet. My first bite of cottage cheese was wonderful. I have been having some Campbell's cream Soups but the sodium is sooo high. I am off of my diuretic (for blood pressure) but I think the high sodium is a little too high for me. My BP is fine but I really don't like having a little extra Fluid.< /p>

I know what you mean. I had a bunch of gurgling/burping/discomfort when I drank the first week even with small sips. This week I accidentally took a huge sip after exercising and it went down just fine. I am so relieved because I am constantly thirsty and it was hard to quench the thirst with tiny sips.

I am also relieved that my sleeve tolerates cold drinks just fine because I love ice cold drinks!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
