Possible Erosion....something Has Changed....

Recommended Posts

this is a question for those of you who have experienced erosion....what are the signs?? Over the last week I've been having really really bad acid reflux, even during the day.....to the point that I have a hard time sleeping at night, like I'm choking on my saliva (I know graphic, but its the truth) Even sitting up in my recliner I have reflux....

What did you experience??

I'm glad I have decided to get this band out of me, but that's not until June....I have a doctor appt on Feb 2nd and I hope everything is ok and it stays ok until June, but this week has been more horrible than the last 7 years with this band in me!

My band eroded into my stomach = hole in my stomach. My tummy hurt every time I ate anything. Acid reflux all the time and I had an ulcer. I had infection and felt horrible all the time. If you can have an EGD, have one.

Yes, something has changed. Get to the doctor. Acid reflux and night cough are major signs of at least a slip. Doctor!

I currently have a very eroded band (in the middle of my stomach) and am waiting on a surgery date to have it removed. I have had absolutely NO symptoms with the exception of weight gain because I have only moderate restriction provided by the obstruction in my stomach. Lately I've been feeling some twinges and odd little feelings and pains but I'm not sure if they are related to my band or just me being hyper-conscious because I know something isn't right.

I have to agree with the others though, it sounds a lot like slippage to me. I would try to get in sooner if you can.

Thank you everyone for everything! A friend suggested that I take Tagamet and I took a pill 30 before I ate on Sunday and everything in my pouch came up....so I waited another hour before I ate and I was fine, actually had an okay night...but I could still feel the acid when I laid down in bed....

I just read online that sleeping pills makes acid reflux worse...I've been having to take them every night since I started this school year, its the only way I can get some sleep....but I see I'm going to have to stop them some how....

I'm going to take your suggestion to see if I can get to the doctor sooner...

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
