Canadian "AUGUST" Challenge

Recommended Posts

Well I did what I said I would do walk for thirty minutes, but I had to split it, I could not do it all at one time, I did fifteen minutes at my lunch period, and fifteen minutes after work.

This week I will try for twenty minutes at lunch, and twenty minutes after work.:omg:

I have not been banded yet, but am going in for a consultation on the 25th of August. Can anyone tell me about Dr. Cobourn in case I get him as a surgeon?

Thanks,

Kirsten

Maria - yes... more walkin' for me! LOL and you're doing great!

Buffie- yeah, where are ya? And how's it going?

ratgirl - I agree with them! Just look through our posts here, and I'm sure you'll read alot of stuff about our experiences with him and his staff!

So.... officially, I lost a whoppin' 0.6lbs in the last week! Not awesome, but anything is good, and I'm used to the little losses by now!

I walked last night, but not quite for 20 minutes.

Thanks everyone for your support. I'm 99% I'm going to go through with the banding, but have only told my best friend and husband about it. I feel like I'm at the end of my rope with weight loss and this is my 'last attempt' to lose weight and get healthy. As part of my support program I plan on talking to you guys alot! I think I'll feel better talking to fellow banders rather than other people who may not understand and who might bring me down.

I find I'm eating a LOT prior to my consultation - did anyone else do this? I know I should try to cut back a bit and start the weight loss process now.

Anyway, everyone have a great day and nice to meet you!

Did any one do this???? OMG, Burger King ran out of food, in the town I live! LOL It's an anticipation thing, I'm not saying it's okay to do, but very few pre-banders DON"T do it. Just keep yourself looking straight ahead. You'll be great. Yes, we would love to hear more from you, keep in touch!!

Hi everyone,

Things are going ok, I had a crappy food weekend, went out of town and ate a lot of things I shouldn't have. I don't know if I have good restriction or not, I just wish I could be comfortably full and stay full for 4 or 5 hours without getting into food 'detective' mode...searching for food. The exercise is going good...my endurance level is really improving. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend a heart rate monitor for anyone who is trying to lose weight, it's nice to know when you're working out that you're in your optimal zone so you're not wasting time.

How's everyone else doing? GOOD LUCK ON YOUR SURGERY KIM!!!! You can do it!! And good job to EVERYONE trying to exercise...it sucks but don't you feel good afterwards?!?!

Does anyone know if sushi is a bad band food?

Hi Buffie, ya, whats up with that, after excersizeing you always feel so good, and it feels great when you can see yourself improve.....So why is it so hard to do:confused: . food feels good to, but I definately don't have a problem sticking to IT! LOL

I don't recall hearing anyone not be able to eat sushi, I've never tried it, it just sounds gross to me. Probably the only food in the world I havent tried though.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
