How Is This Even Possible

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on Jan.11th and after 9 days the rosacea is gone. My face is smooth for the first time in years. my eczema is gone. There is no more itching and my skin is healing. My knees dont hurt walking down stairs, The bags under my eyes are lessening,

On monday I will get labs back. I'm only hoping the HPB, pre-diabetes and fatty liver are gone or are improving.

Fact is: I feel great. I guess pain and unwell feeling were my old normal. i didn't realize I felt so bad.

Sounds like you were allergic to the fats you use to consume. Since its gone now you will be able to find out what was doing it. Good luck. And its nice to have an added bonus

I agree with Capt Derel, something in your old diet was causing your condition - or a combination. Keep a careful food diary, including copies of labels of foods. introduce foods slowly! Good luck!

I agree with the others. It does sound like you have a food allergy. My son had allergy induced asthma as a child. We finally did a pretty strict elimination diet to figure out what he was allergic to rather than put a 2 year old through the trauma of the scratch testing on his back. As we added foods back into his diet, we found out he was allergic to several common food dyes. I was amazed at all the foods that contained those dyes! Certain brands of green Beans had food dyes in them!

The post-op liquid diet is definitely a clean you out one, between all of the Water and Clear liquids. Pookey is right that you should introduce foods very slowly. Maybe it's something simple, like breads and Pasta, which shouldn't be too hard to avoid. :)

I'm glad that you are having such a high energy level and such positive results already! That's the best possible outcome, IMO!

Good luck!!

I agree Catracks, I was sleeved on Jan 10 and I am feeling great! I am so amazed that as I come to the end of the clear liquid diet, I am feeling so good and the weight is already coming off pretty quickly. No regrets here, just a bright future ahead. I am so grateful for all the help from the people on this site. Thank you all!

Patti

I love the people on this site too. You are all so courageous. Every one of you should be proud for being pro-active and meeting this horrible health issue head on.

I am truly blessed to be recovering so well. I haven't had pain meds since the recovery room (I hated the morphine) and right now I have so much energy I feel like jumping up and down.

My only small complaint is that I think I am constipated. I know there's not much to make a BM (TMI?) from, but I did cheat and have a bit (1/8 cup) of oatmeal yesterday and a tiny amount of flakey fish the day before. My sleeve handled it fine. My colon -- not so much. I wonder if Benefiber would do the trick. I don't want to take a laxative.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
