Anyone Out There Like Me?

Recommended Posts

I am 5'7" and on last weigh in I weighed 446...Im set to be sleeved on 3/1/2012 and was curious if there were any aready sleeved people out there with my stats that might could direct me in what to expect...I have my own personal goals but I don't want to be disappointed if I don't meet them so before I get this procedure done I want to have an idea of what to expect..

Im going on an Alaskan cruise in September so I would LOVE to be 100 lbs lighter...think that is a good attainable goal???

Well I don't even KNOW you to say that I LIKE you or not :smile1:

Oh, you mean "is anyone SIMILAR to me" ------------ Sorry couldn't resist.

I would say that 100 pounds by september is completely doable if you have the surgery fairly soon. Remember the heavier you are the faster you lose initially as your cut in caloric intake means the body cannot support the massive amount of fat it put away and burns it up. I don't rmember when I hit the 100 pound mark but I thing is was around the 4 or 5 month mark. I started out at about 375 pounds and am about 6' tall.

We all wish you well friend!

:welcome: hi brandy

We would love you here, and we can give you all the support and advice you need. We're all great people and are here for everyone :wink0:

That being said, there is s a support group that is more weight specific. If you need to lose over 200 lbs. maybe more people in that group could help better, since they might understand some of your more individual problems. But we want to grab you too. So hop aboard :smile1:

How wonderful, going to Alaska on a cruise. You will definitely be down a great deal of weight, and you will feel much healthier by September. Everybody loses weight at a different time period, but i know you will do great. Have fun in Alaska. :wof:

See you soon :seeya:

I am only 2 months post-op, so I can't give you personal stats-I haven't weighed in 2+ weeks but at 6 weeks post-op I was down 58 lbs.

I have seen several people here who have lost 100# in 5 or so months. Some have lost 200# in about a year. But of course that's not everyone.

As Rootman said-the more you have to lose the faster it "should" happen. If you are on a pre-op diet now for the time before surgery, that should help you get to your goal. I lost over 20# in just my two week post-op diet.

Good Luck and have fun on your cruise. I too had planned to go this year, but decided for several reasons (weight being one) to wait another year.

100 pounds by September is totally doable if you have surgery soon. I lost 40 pounds before surgery and have lost 105 since surgery. Your starting weight is almost exactly the same as mine. My recommendation would be to get started on the Protein Shakes now, 1 - 2 meals per day and eat a healthy 3rd meal. Also, start exercising! Do whatever you can do, I would walk for 10 minutes or do an easy exercise video. I think I would be down more if I had started exercising sooner. Good luck and let me know if you need someone to talk to!

Thanks! I have already started replacing one meal with a Protein shake...and have started walking during my lunch break...I am determined to be down 100 by September! My surgery is on 3/1! I SO CANT WAIT! My doctor said I only have to do a 10 day preop diet but I am doing a full 2 weeks!

Thank you for offering to chat! I am sure I will be taking you up on it!

Hello!

I am 5'6" - I started at 334 lbs in January 2011 -- I hit 55 lbs loss in 3 months, and then things started slowing down for me... I "averaged" 6-8 lbs loss a month after my first 4 months... and I have no idea why because it was beginning of summer and I was outside getting fresh air, started walking daily... I just didnt show the drastic loss however... my inches loss improved, it was like my body readjusted or something!

If I could change anything, it would be that I wish I would have been more proactive in exercise post op, I came up with too many excuses. The bigger you are, the better numbers in weight loss you should have, and I truly felt within my first year I should have had better loss for as big as I was starting out. But, it is what it is and for me its going to take a little longer. I laid back in November & December, developed bad habits. However, I am back on track now, I still have 60 pounds to lose to goal...I was "hoping" to hit it by May.

Just a suggestion ** Please do not get frustrated by other peoples stats, it is hard not to compare yourself to others and it is easy to become frustrated when you see others posting big numbers and you are only losing 2 pounds a week... Tell yourself now that every little pound is great and that you will not be upset with a 2 pound a week loss! It also is hard when you are starting off on the higher end of the scale. Trust me I know how it felt to see posts from people about "stalls" or that they have only lost 2 pounds and they started off 100 pounds less than me for the surgery! Gheeze!!! It is amazing the tricks your mind can play on you! You are making the first steps and each day you work towars a healthier you is great, be thankful and focus on that -- and if you do that, before you know it your going to see the pounds melting off!!

Good luck my friend, I wish you the best and I am jealous of the cruise thing! Good for you ! What an awesome goal to be working towards such a nice trip!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
