peacequeen 434 Posted January 20, 2012 After surviving a leak, I've been put back on liquids along with my tpn. I'm on full liquids now. I tried to drink 3 oz of wonton broth and a had a couple bites of sf pudding and it is sitting at the top of my throat and I keep feeling like I'm going to vomit (sorry if tmi). Am I trying to take in too much at one time? How long does it actually take liquid to travel out of the stomach? I'm trying to space out when I eat to make sure I'm not putting too much in my stomach at one time. I seem to stay confused on how to eat now,,maybe I was one of those that shouldn't have wls, I don't know. Too late now. Feeling very frustrated.
Afro_Cyster 74 Posted January 20, 2012 It's a struggle everyday to learn your body. The texture and makeup of the food we choose can affect the "full" feeling. Personally, I can only eat two tablespoons of pudding. So, I would probably space my meals out a bit more?
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted January 20, 2012 You have had a horrible ordeal. Your stomach is still healing. Take it slowly and perhaps have smaller quanities through out the day. Glad your home and getting some liquids in. It will happen and you will be eating normally, at least normally for us. Keep healing..

We have been thinking of you so much, wishing you well and all that good stuff. That said... As far as feeling down, and even regretful of the WLS - I understand why you feel that way after all you have been through. You are really at the very beginning of your long journey...starting tomorrow. :wink1: At the very beginning many have trouble drinking liquids at all, sound like that is going on with you now. No food now, I don't think pudding is right for you now. In your case you should be getting a lot more attention and instructions and assistance. You need help from the NUT and I'm sure you'll get it. Just ask for help from all of us in sleeve land. You know we're here.. I don't have to tell you about all the support you'll get here. Just yell - we all want to help :grouphug4: kathy
happy1957 138 Posted January 20, 2012 Hello Peacequeen.... Glad that you're on the road to recovery. I can't say that I know where you're coming from, but when I started liquids I was instructed to use a pill cup and drink one ounce every 15 minutes. I sipped, sipped, sipped and so it was about 4 oz's an hour. It doesn't take vary long to increase it to 2 Ounces every 15 minutes and before you know, you'll be drinking as much a you want. I have never had an issue with liquids, in fact have only had two food issues that I may have caused. Rich lobster stew to early on and the skin of a slice of ham not wanting to digest. I hope you have an easy road ahead, you've been through enough.. The best of luck to you for a speedy recovery.
hadouni 301 Posted January 21, 2012 I'm so glad to see you posting peacequeen! I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time. You are often in my thoughts and prayers. I haven't had anything like pudding yet. I've added some thicker pureed Soups and have had yasso brand greek frozen yogurt bars from costco. So far, everything seems to go right down. If I drink too fast I get a sort of stuck feeling and then I can kind of sense that its draining through but that happens pretty fast. I know if I slouch things move through slower too. Big hugs to you!!! I'm rooting for you-
peacequeen 434 Posted January 21, 2012 Sorry, everyone..it's just been a bad day emotionally. I know with time I'll feel like this is the greatest thing I've ever done. I don't really regret having the surgery but not quite ready to say,,yay this is awesome. Eating pudding,,I just take a few baby sized bites as suggested by my surgeon to help one of my daily meds from hurting my stomach. Maybe since I'm having all the liquids I can hold up on the pudding if yall think it's going to be a bad idea. I want to make the right choices. I appreciate everyone commenting and for all the thoughts and prayers. I'm so thankful for the support.
