Today was so frightening because I had an egg yolk get stuck in my throat. I felt sooo much pain and discomfort. I began getting foam in my mouth so ran to the bathroom ecause I felt like i was gonna throw up. Just the foam came out, no stomach acid which alarmed me. Finally the bright yellow egg yolk was coughed up. I felt better right away but kept burping. I guess the yolk was too dry. I hadn't tried to eat one yet, just eating egg whites. Is this a common experience when you eat dry or powdery food? Why did only foam come out and no acid? How can food digest if I have no acid?

That reaction is called The Slimes. For me, and from my research on the topic from here, it occurs when eating something too quickly, too large of a bite or not chewing enough. Do a search on the forum for slimes.

Sorry that happened to you, but it only happened to me once, as I am sure you are not looking for a repeat.

Good luck!

Yep that was the "slimes" or "foamies". The food never went into your stomach....it was stuck at the top of your sleeve/esophagus. The "foam" is phlem and saliva that backs up because it has nowhere to go. You are actually constantly swallowing saliva, phlem, sinus secretions, etc. When food "plugs" the entrance to your stomach that stuff backs up until the spasms in your esophagus are able to hack the item back up.

Essentially...yes. The yolk was either too dry, too big/not chewed well, or your digestive system is just not ready for it.

Thanks everyone. I'm glad that it is common and I don't have a leak or something serious. I felt so much pain that it scared me.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
