My surgery is Friday and of course I am nervous, etc. My boyfriend has asked me several times not to have the surgery. 'NOT' Then he started asking me about my living will, life insurance, etc. Today my ex-husband calls and starts telling me he doesn't want to raise our son by himself, it would be to hard for him (that is why the boy lives with me), do I have life insurance and if so who is the beneficiary. Ok, do they know something I should be aware of "Am I going to die" Now I am freaking out and doubting my decision.

If they are that worried about you living or dying- they should be that much more supportive of this decision you have made!

Your personal wishes should be in order at all times - whether having surgery or not. You're more likely to get hit by a bus today than die during surgery, but its always a possibility. It sounds like either they don't want you to succeed or they are just uninformed and scared. If YOU feel you're doing the right thing, that's all that matters. My fear is that your boyfriend not being supportive is going to create resentment toward him later when you are successful. Might be something to bring up to him.

You are going to be fine! I was a nervous wreck before surgery. I prayed all the time, cried a lot, and worried even more. My doctor told me I have more of a chance of getting hit by a bus on the way home from surgery than I did dying while in surgery. That made me laugh. I'm guessing your surgery is/was today. So get right back on here when you can and let us know you were worried for nothing.

You're going to do great!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
