No one can tell from your body weight, age and sex what your resting metabolism is. You have to get the test done where you wake up early in the AM and go breath in a machine for an hour. You can't drive there either. You have to be in a resting state. RMR can vary drastically. The internet told me my RMR was 2300 calories per day at rest, but when I had the test done it was 1500 a day at rest. Which was 30% less than what it should be at my height and weight. At my year anniversary I will get my RMR taken and true body fat percentage taken (in a Water tank). Once you realize your RMR then you can adjust all the nutrition labels which are based on a 2000 calorie diet. Which I feel for most women is way too high. Then you add in light activity and more strenuous activity to find out where you would need to maintain. most of the sites where they tell you..."if you eat this you will weigh this" take RMR into consideration, but I am not sure if there has ever been a recent RMR study on obese people....I think I will look this up. Because all internet calculators are not even close to a true number. It is probably based on an average, but metabolisms are soooooo different.

I had my RMR checked at 250lbs in 2008 and it was 2000. I had it done at 3.5 months out now and it was 1300. (at 195lbs or so ) I totally agree. I eat at least 1300 cals a day cause of this!!! and it works for me!

By the way I had mine checked at Lifetime fitness and it was about 100 dollars. Money well spent!
