VBKen 1 Posted January 18, 2012 Well Im back home right now. My DR said that the surgery went well. First day in the hospital all I wanted to do was sleep. I was up every hour and peeing like crazy. Leak test went fine. Was released from the hospital yesterday. The hardest thing I have encountered so far is trying to get the liquids.I have also had headaches like crazy. Couldn't sleep in my own bed last night so I slept in my living room. Nausea is killing me and I have had this pain in the center of my chest that will not go away. The doctor said that the upper portion of the stomach will spasm. Fortunately he prescribed something that help with that. Im hoping that things will start going back to normal over the next few days or so.
Pookeyism 1,143 Posted January 18, 2012 I am sorry for the pain ans nausea - were you given meds to go home on? Hydrocodone in liquid (sipped) took the edge off for me, and where we have to sip it so slowly I was able to gauge exactly how much I needed - never used a full dose. I had the generic but liquid fenergan will help the nausea and help you sleep. I hope all went well - I was so disoriented, and they started out by giving me a pain med that would put me to sleep, but as soon as I needed to walk or the nurses needed something from me I would be awake and the pain would start, UGH! A nurse actually suggested to the doctor that I be switched to hydrocodone. I cannot stress how important it is to stay hydrated right now, even if you have to use a dropper and an egg timer! Get in as much protien as you can. Some is better than none, but do what you can. Good luck!
VBKen 1 Posted January 18, 2012 Yes, I was given prescriptions for meds. liquid Hydrocodone, some type of blood thinner already in syringes, and anti-nausea tablet that I put under my tounge. I'm sure everything will get better (hopefully sooner than later). I took my first 30 minute walk today and that took a lot out of me. Trying to keep myself hydrated. Looking forward to the future.
