How Long Before You Start Getting Hungry?

Recommended Posts

The issue I have is when I stovetop pop it at home, because then I want some every night. I have to budget it out and only make some every other week - so yes, you'll most likely be fine with popcorn (but take it easy on the buttery oil they use at the theater as it can cause, erm, issues) and be able to enjoy it again. Just be conscious of it and don't let it get the best of you!

I never get movie popcorn. They infuse it with transfat even before dumping the artifical grease on it. I pop the corn at home in a heavy pot with a little olive oil, put it in a plastic bag and carry it into the show with me. I'll continue to do that.

Soda and popcorn: my favorite snack! I thought I was over it because frankly, I'm still not hungry. I was in Target last night and as I was standing next to the cooler of Diet Coke, the smell of popcorn wafted over. MAN! Talk about craving.

Why can't we have soda?

I am 6 weeks out and I can eat an egg with a bit of shredded cheese for Breakfast at about 7:00 am and around 10:00 I start on my Protein shake about 16-20 oz made with powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and a banana and soy milk. Then at 12:00 ish I have 1/4 cup of refried Beans and shredded cheese and I’ll put tsp of salsa ( not chunky at all more like a hot sauce) in it for flavor also or tuna salad with light mayo about 3oz or 1/4 turkey chili is another good luch or egg salad. And I usually have the same thing for dinner. I love to cook and I love the smell of food but I have very little desire to eat. Most of the time I’ll smell something good and I’ll think wow that smells good and then it’s gone out of my head, whereas before the desire to eat after smelling something tasty would be overwhelming. Sometimes I get head hunger when I'm cooking and I'll have a taste of something but I don’t' want more. It is strange, this new stomach. I'm concerned that I'm eating more then I should, now that I hear more people can only eat 3/4 of an egg. My nutritionist says that I’m doing well but it’s hard to say. I’m really focusing on eating to get rid of hunger or the empty feeling and nothing more. Eating slowly is so difficult. :drool5:

I just am thankful that I’m able to get control of my eating now that I am post op.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
