Hello, my name is Tomika and I had my Laproscopic Gastric Sleeve done on Dec 13, 2011. My pre-surgury weight was 245, and my current weight is 209 (4 weeks/6 days) out. The reason I had this surgury was my health issues as well as being overweight. One of my main issues was my diabetes II. I was on Metformin 2000 mg daily and the Victoza pen 1.8mg daily. I am no longer on either because after my visit to my Endo on Jan 3, 2012 my blood sugar 107 and my A1C was 5.5. I am having three problems that I hope I can get guidance on...

1) I am almost 5 weeks post op and I am scarred to eat. I don't know what to eat - my daily meal is 2 Protein shakes, 16 oz Water, one scrambled egg or 1/2 cup of cream of wheat, 2.5 oz of fat free tuna and 6 wheat crackers and maybe a 4 oz applesauce (throughout a 12 hour day). It is extremely boring. Also, I got dizzy and fell to the ground a couple of days ago, I think it may be potassium?

2) I think I have stopped losing weight and my blood sugars are rising again, ranging 119 - 147, daily since Jan 4, 2012. I stop all food or liquid intake by 8:30 pm and take my blood sugar once in the am between 7:30 and 8:30.

3) I am having a hard time mentally seeing my weight loss (is anyone experienceing that?) other than the obvious clothes are too big - when I look in the mirror, I still see the old me.

Well that's my story so far. I look forward to meeting many new friends. Thanks and take care.

Buy some smaller clothes. It will help you see the weight loss. If money is an issue, buy a couple of things from Goodwill or another second hand store.

You aren't drinking enough Water if 16 ounces is correct. It depends on how much your Protein shakes are -- you should be drinking about 64 ounces of Water a day.

I know I got tired of the flavors vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. If you shop online for food, you can find a larger variety that still gives you a lot of Protein. I bought some things from BariatricChoice.com.

Check with your nutritionist for other ways to add variety to your diet. There is also a forum for recipes and post-op diets on this site. Just scroll down more.

Do you have a nutritionist? I was given a sample menu for week 4-6 that had things like, cream of wheat, oatmeal, maltomeal, cottage cheese, apple sauce, refried Beans, shredded cheddar cheese, sugar free yogurt, sugar free Gelatin, navy Beans, pureed fruit, mashed potatoes, pureed chicken, pureed turkey, pureed sweet potatoes, and pureed green beans, puredd cooked carrots and sugar free puddings.

By week 6 I was really sick of these foods but then I got to move up to the next menu.

You really need to push the Water. I used the timer on my phone and set it the minute I ate...when it went off 30 min. later I start drinking. Sip all day long...I felt dizy a lot the first few months until I was able to start drinking 64 ounces a day. It takes work to get to that amount. I still have to work at everyday but I feel so much better when I do...

Lots of people have talked about stalls...are you staying with in the guidelines with Protein, calories and carbs? If so then you will lose.

I know you will see the loss. It took a while for me too. But the day I saw it was a great day and it is still getting used to the new me and I have been there for months now.

I can't help you any with blood sugar issues sorry no experience...feel free to ask me any other questions.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
