Skin Creams Good For Tightening Skin?

Recommended Posts

I am 1 week post op and was wondering if anyone knows of any skin creams/lotions that help with skin tightening/firming? I know excercise and lots of Water helps, but I just wondered if there is something I could start applying to my skin everyday that would help at all? I have over 200 pounds to lose, so anything that can assist with sagging will be appreciated :) Maybe they are just wives tales, but I've heard Vitamin E and various other vitamin enriched lotions help.

I'm sorry to say they are old wives tales. Building muscle will replace some of the volume lost by the fat, but it is not going to replace it all, unfortunately. I have been lifting weights like a fool and have added a lot of muscle mass. But with 105 lbs lost, I still have a lot of extra skin. I will be looking at surgical solutions once I have the sleeve paid off in about a year or so.

I've read it takes up to a year for excess skin to shrink, so I plan to wait a year after getting to goal to see how things look. I rub my skin to bring extra blood flow to the area after showering and then use any kind of body oil or lotion to keep it soft. Not sure if makes a difference, but at least it feels nice.

there are no magic creams, just like there are no magic pills. Consume lots of good Proteins and drink lots of Water and pray your genetics favor tight skin :)

Check out a product called ageLOC. A friend of mine recommended it to me, though she hasn't had any bariatric surgery, she says she can tell a difference.

The best creams I have heard of are Mary Kay, Nivea, and one that is sold at the mall. It's at department stores, a white bottle with red letters, sorry I can't remember the name. I did pick up a nivea firming creme at target today. It can't hurt.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
