Catracks 865 Posted January 14, 2012 I'm only 4 days out i feel like I'm swimming. I have to do 2 weeks clear, 2 weeks full and 2 weeks puree. I hate to whimper, but 10 more days???? Ugh! I'm not hungry, but what I wouldn't give for a tsp of refrieds. How did you all do it? Is my doctor extra strict?
Mimi77 6 Posted January 15, 2012 Conpared to what mine will be, I'm jealous! I'm still pre-op but my surgeon requires 2 weeks Clear Liquids pre-surgery then for a minimum of 10 days post op, then ONE MONTH of full liquids followed by 4-6 weeks of soft/mushies. I really was shocked when I found this out and have had thoughts of looking at other surgeons.
ATeam 38 Posted January 15, 2012 My doc had the same plan ,and I must admit I moved on to fulls after 1 week because I was so miserable and weak!

Not badly. but I had lean meats occasionally. Mine is 2 weeks clear, 2 weeks full and 2 weeks mushy. i can see how I'm getting enough calories for my brain to work - I mean 240 and zero carb? hadouni 301 Posted January 17, 2012 oh wow, I had one week clear and am in a week of full liquids (no milk) and next week I get soft foods. I think week four is pretty broad and close to full foods except for bread, Pasta and rice. It's amazing how different each surgical group approaches post- op eating. I also only had ond day of liquids prior to surgery and no pre-diet.
plyman 13 Posted January 17, 2012 I am in the same place, one week post op on clear liquid and really getting bored with it. I am not really hungry but the taste is what I am missing. I have to make it one more week then full liquid which sounds like an exciting week (who woulld think). The thing that keeps me going is thinking how my stomach is inside right now. It is stapled closed and needs to heal before heavy things get in there. I sure don't want anything to happen to the healing part so at least I know the liquids go right through and will not cause any damage. I sure am testing all my patience though. Good luck to you and find your way through one more week.
PdxMan 4,292 Posted January 17, 2012 To echo what plyman is thinking, perhaps a quick search on YouTube for what was just done to your stomach might inspire you to stay on liquids for the designated time. Your stomach was just sliced end-to-end and stapled shut. Do you really want to push it? As I am sure you have read dozens of times during your research, the first month is the hardest, but it is only a month ... for the benefit of your life. Don't think about the enormity of 2 weeks left!!! AHHH!! HOW AM I GOING TO DO IT!!?? Take it one step at a time, one day at a time, 12 hours at a time, one hour at a time, 5 minutes at a time ... "For the next hour, I am going to drink my liquids and follow my Drs orders for the benefit of my health." You can do this.
Catracks 865 Posted January 17, 2012 I know I can. I was just bitching. i saw the videos of the surgery on Youtube. I do have to admit that the weight is dropping off at a scary pace. I didn't know a person could loose almost 3 pounds in a day. We'll see if I hit that 3 week stall everyone talks about. That will be week two of full liquids. I know, I shouldn't be concentraing on the weight loss at this point, but it's fun when you lose and it's been effortless. Boy do I feel good.
Lissa 2,631 Posted January 17, 2012 Cattracks, The weight loss is what inspired me to stay faithful to my post-op diet!! It was incredible watching those pounds just melt away! If that's what it takes to keep you on plan, go for it!!!

I'm not hungry, but what I wouldn't give for a tsp of refrieds. I feel you, completely! I can't wait until I can move to soft foods. An egg sounds like steak to me right now! My team requires a 3 week liquid diet. I am one week out of surgery. My 3 week post op class and surgeon appt is on Feb 1. Then, I can move on. Of course, I wouldn't try anything foolish and attempt to eat at this point. In my pre-op class, the psych told us about a lady who attempted to liquify a pork chop in a blender. While in the hospital, my nurse told me about a lady who ate a bite of a cheeseburger during the first week and had to go back in for corrective surgery. CRA-ZY. Uh, no thanks!
