carbgrl 119 Posted January 14, 2012 After sleeve surgery what types of food are forbidden? Before being banded, I asked the doctor what foods (or drinks) would be off limits. He said you can eat everything as before just in smaller quantities, which was a LIE! I know carbonated drinks are to be avoided. No strawberries or small seeds for a while - how long? What else? Rootman 1,101 Posted January 14, 2012 I've steered away from white bread - whch MAY ball up in the small confines of the sleeve and casue issues. Celery - the "strings" may ball up too and coconut becasue of the fibers potentially doing the same. There are things that I just DON'T eat anymore, candy, Cookies, cake second and third helpings of anything and etc. - OK well I eat SOME of them very, very little . Indymom 132 Posted January 14, 2012 I can eat anything within tolerance at 5 months out, though there are certain foods that don't sit well in my stomach (anything overly greasy, dense breads, pasta). Some will say to avoid celery and coconut - I don't eat coconut but I've had celery often without issues (after the first 3 months, of course).
