The Sleeve "switch"

Recommended Posts

I, like most of us, love food. Before surgery in August I was a food addict and binge eater. Before the surgery, I was terrified of the emotions postop. Thinking I would kiss food so much and go nuts without it. However from the day of surgery, it was like a switch went off in brain regarding food and the eating process. I am waiting for it to switch back but I don't want it to. I am almost 5 months out and grateful for the 65 pounds i have lost. Anyone else have this switch turned with surgery?? Did it stay that way?

Wow, I had some typos! I hate doing it from my phone! The biggest switch for me has been how much I think about food. I went from constantly thinking of food (eating lunch and thinking about dinner) to only thinking of food when I get hungry. It just amazes me. I also went from the clean your plate mentality to its okay to throw food out if I am full.

I did! I don't even think about eating. Though it's only been 3 weeks, I hope it stays this way. I must admit, I tasted a bit of cream potatoes and it kind of triggered a little something, like made me want to eat more of them since they went down so well, but I didn't.

I am almost 3 years out now and it goes in spurts for me. There are days when i want to eat all day and it's hard for me to not snack all day.

There are other days that I don't even think about eating and hardly eat at all.

My switch, unfortunately, did not shut off. I have times where I catch myself eating even though my sleeve is not hungry or drinking with a meal so that it goes down better and I can have more. I still think about food a lot. Granted, I think about it less in that I don't think about supper when I'm eating lunch but about an hour after eating, I am thinking about it again.

If I feel like I didn't pack enough lunch and Snacks for work I get anxious and think about it all day. I get anxious about what and where we will eat if we have a shopping day planned. I could go on and on...

I am both happy for and envious of those of you who had your switch turned off. I think my weight loss would be further along right now had mine been removed.

Almost 12 months out... and same here. It is way better than before though...

1 year surgery anniversary today and I can go all day without thinking about food. On days when I do I am bored and looking for something to do, and what I did before surgery was eat, so I try to stay busy.

My experience is the same as yours. I've not been hungry since the morning of my surgery, and I literally have to set alarms to remind myself to eat or I forget. I'm a week shy of 4 months out.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
