I have tried several of the Protein Drinks and had almost given up on finding on that I like. Then, somewhere else in this forum, I saw someone mention Nu-tek Pro5. I looked it up and found a nutrition store that sells it (there is only one in my state). I called the store and they were so super nice and knowledgeable. They mailed me a big bag of like eight samples along with a free shaker bottle!!! It was just a gut instinct when I read about this stuff, but I knew I would like it. And I was right!! I have loved every flavor I have tried! They also have a Nu-Tek Pro 5 HERS which says it also has added Vitamins for hair, skin and nail health (it only comes in choc and vanilla though) but it is delicious! Worth a try! Hope this helps.

That's a great list of recipes. I haven't been having any problems with my Protein powders going down, but those look like a fun way to mix it up!

Another great source of Protein is plain Greek yogurt.

I used the unjury chicken Protein powder when I wanted something not sweet. I also like Gold Standard French Vanilla Creme mixed with soymilk and a packet of Starbucks Via Italian Roast Decaf. Tastes like a latte to me.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for posting all of those receipes. Some of them sound great. I do not have any trouble with the chocolate or strawberry shakes as I was on a liquid diet of nothing but shakes for 8 months as a diet in years past. But I might just have to buy some vanilla and give some of those a try. Thanks for sharing your information.

I was gagging on the potein shakes from my doctor, myoplex vanilla, unjury. I was told to get the Premier Potein shakes from Sams. They are 5 carbs and 30 grams per 11 ounces. They taste like chocolate milk to me. I drink 1-1/5 a day and get the remaining protein from other sources. Good luck, you have to try a few until you find what you can handle.

If you go to a GNC or similiar store they sell Protein Drink mixes that taste like punch, orange juice etc and they are loaded with Protein. granted it is not like drinking a Pepsi but they did mix them up for me and let me taste before I bought. I went with the very berry and one glass a day is over 30 g of protein. I am sure that different brands vary but try them out. Find one that you like after tasting and buy it. It makes up over half of the protein you need in 1 glass. I actually have no problem drinking the chocolate and strawberry shakes. I also have a cream of chicken and a cream of Tomato that comes from the same place I order the shake mix and they are pretty good and have 14 g protein.

I drink one of these 25 g shots twice a day (actually, I drink a half one four times a day). http://www.pureprotein.net/pages/category.aspx?cat=SPECIALTY#Protein_Shots The grape ones are available in boxes of 6 at Target. A little pricey (around $2 each), but so worth it to not drink those nasty shakes. The fruit punch flavor is better, and you can order it online.

25 g of high-quality Protein in less than 3 oz of liquid, then you can drink whatever you want the rest of the day for hydration instead of nursing a Protein shake. I'm only two weeks out, but I'm not sure how I would have made it this far and met my Protein goals without these. I just ordered a few cases online, as they're going to be a staple for me.

I realize I sound like I work for the company, but I don't, I swear :-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
