9 Weeks Post Op - Nausea And Full Stuck Feeling

Recommended Posts

I am 9 wks Post Op and just this week my sleeve isn't responding or feeling so good. Just wondering if anyone out there has had a similiar experience. When I drink or eat anything I get a stuck full feeling in my chest and feel nausea come on. I wait a bit and my stomach gurgles away and I don't feel good until I can let out a burp. This happens even after the first bite or sip of Protein shake. I was feeling and eating great up until a few days ago. It's like my sleeve grew smaller. On Boxing Day I had a really bad stomach flu which landed me in emergency from dehydration and the violent vomiting. They exrayed my stomach, did blood work, and filled me with 3 bags of Fluid. Everything checked out ok and after a couple of days at home I felt back to normal and my sleeve felt good...

So I'm not sure why I am having troubles now 3 wks later. I am going to try to go back to liquids for a bit and see if that helps..Liquids are not as bad but I still have the full dense feeling in my stomach. Any ideas out there would be most appreciated.

Brenda

This happens to me when I started eating carbs like bread, Pasta or rice. Sometimes it happens to me if I eat too fast. This is happening less and less as time goes on. I am in my 10th week.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
