jasleeve 440 Posted February 5, 2012 i think the stats are up in the air because a lot of people heal from a leak without ever knowing to have one but the ones that are caught are usually severe enough to have symptoms & those are the ones documented & then maybe 1/2 to 2/3 of them speak up. i just cant wait to get past this I think leaks occur in a little less then 1% and a leak that happens after the first two weeks the percentage is even smaller so I think their voices get lost. I think there should be a sticky thread on leaks especially since recovery from a leak does take so long and is that much harder. The good news is that everyone I have "met" that have had a leak do get better.
Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted February 5, 2012 There is a thread called "I have a leak in my gastric sleeve" I think there are 3 people in that thread with leaks. I am only telling you this because it seemed like you wanted to read other people's stories who had also complications. What does SMH stand for? I am reallly sorry you're going through this. I had surgery on a Wed and went back to work on Monday . I could not even tell I had surgery. I have felt completely normal since the day I had surgery. I wish that you were like the 98-99% of us who had no complications and love their sleeve.

jasleeve 440 Posted February 6, 2012 last night was my 2nd night in a row that i did not throw up since coming home a week ago! im praying to high heaven that this is me improving! yesterday was my first day not throwing up. i was nauseous & gagged a few times and thought i would but i fought the feeling & it went away. im praying that i keep looking up & not back. something tells me that i havent thrown up in the middle of the night because i took loritab these past 2nights for a headache. either way, i wasnt making a mad dash to my bathroom. 4 peacequeen, MeMeMEEE, Dooter and 1 other reacted to this
CrisB83 47 Posted February 6, 2012 Isn't Loritab the best? I have had the pleasure of using it a few times since my surgery, and it does wonders. I have been following this thread, and prayed for you to have success and happiness- I haven't had to deal with a leak, but have had days where I wondered why in the world I decided to do this to myself. I am so, so glad to hear that things are starting to look up for you! May you be blessed with increasing happiness and healing, and may these days of misery become a foggy, distant memory! last night was my 2nd night in a row that i did not throw up since coming home a week ago! im praying to high heaven that this is me improving! yesterday was my first day not throwing up. i was nauseous & gagged a few times and thought i would but i fought the feeling & it went away. im praying that i keep looking up & not back. something tells me that i havent thrown up in the middle of the night because i took loritab these past 2nights for a headache. either way, i wasnt making a mad dash to my bathroom. MeMeMEEE 206 Posted February 6, 2012 HAHA gotta put my 2 cents in about Lortab - it rocks when you can inject it directly in to your feeding tube - it takes no time to work! Sadly, I ran out about a week ago

Helen the Cat 42 Posted February 8, 2012 ! am SO sorry to hear that you still aren't feeling better. Know that you are in my prayers (and the prayers of lots of other good folks who frequent this web site)! It must be horrible to go to surgery expecting to have a fairly simple procedure, and then end up feeling so horrible! (Makes me SO thankful for my fairly uncomplicated recovery! And makes my problems with fatigue seem so minimal!) I have a friend who had a Roux N Y (another bariatric procedure) and had a huge leak. She almost died and was sick for months and months. She became so depressed. Please don't get to the point where you are that depressed. Get some help! I know that right now your physical symptoms seem overwhelming. But they will resolve eventually! Don't get so depressed that your physical recovery is complicated by mental depression. And again, KNOW that you are in my prayers! Love and Hugs and Prayers coming your way! Hip2bfit 3 Posted February 8, 2012 Hi I have been following your story and feel terrrible for you. I hope that the end of your misery is near. Just curious since you cant eat or really keep anything down, how much weight have you lost? I know that this is the least of your concerns and the weight loss is secondary to getting back to normal.... just wondering.
