PreciousCargo 55 Posted January 10, 2012 I just have to get this off my chest. I work at a hospital. They have a beautiful cafe that I enjoy dining in. Anyway, I go in there for my morning break and purchase a Protein Drink and yogurt. Twice now I have bought Light Muscle Milk which has been expired. What an idiot I am, I should look at the date but I don't. Today the expiration date read 11/11. Now my stomach is upset. Being on a liquid diet already sucks because of headaches I am having, now this. You would think a hospital would be more careful of the food or drinks in their cafe for the health of their consumers. Thanks for listening!
Tif 2.0 141 Posted January 10, 2012 GROSS!!! I would totally pitch a fit at this point and I'm not one to at all. I'm so anal about dairy products that I won't drink it if it says it's expiring on that day. I've passed that little fun OCD thing on to my son. I didn't mean to, but I did. Rootman 1,101 Posted January 10, 2012 AFAIK, most counties and states g USA terms) have a Health Inspection office that can fine a food service place for keeeping foodstuffs beyond the expiry date. I am not saying you should call and report them but perhaps a subtle hint is in order?
Shae 44 Posted January 10, 2012 Hospital cafeteria workers are no different from the workers in school cafeterias, Applebee's, or any food service place. There are those who take the job seriously and have a high work ethic and those who are there to get a paycheck. I am not surprised by your experience at all. At least you are aware of it now and will look at everything you purchase from there a little more closely. You can also complain to the cafeteria supervisor. You may get lucky and have one that gives a hoot. I would recommend showing him or her the package or any other item that you find that has gone beyond the expiration date. I'm sorry you have to deal with this. I know the liquid stage is really tough to deal with and you don't need any added grief from it.
