Was sleeved yesterday morning. The remainder of the day was really rough. The pain wasn't bad at all, but the nausea was terrible. They finally gave me some kind of narcotic anti-nausea drug which knocked me out cold. It must have worked really well because I feel fairly normal at the moment!

Finally able to sip on Water and crystal light and I am walking around just fine. Hope this means I will get released today!

My surgeon found a hernia too and fixed that while he was in there. I had no idea I even had one! I wonder what causes that?

Hi Christin! Glad to see you post. nausea has been the hardest part for me too. I'm drinking cranberry now but can't do Jello or Popsicle at all. Hope your recovery continues to go well!

Thanks! Glad yours went well also! That nausea really is the worst. It feels great to be able to drink again! The chicken broth tastes like heaven! Who knew? lol

They won't let me do Jello at all. Can only have Water, crystal light, and broth. The warm liquid feels really good going down.

Best of recovery wishes to you also! :)

Hang in there. Each day things will get better. I agree with Christin warm liquids work best for me. I can get more liquids down if they are warm or room temp. It took me a couple of weeks to figure that one out.

Congrats Christin!

I had a suprise hernia repair too. My surgeon said it is very common in obese people. She said there is a natural opening, but the extra fat causes too much pressure on the organs and the opening tears. I have pictures of mine.

My first day in the hospital was rough too. Not so much pain, but pressure in the chest and gas. The first week is no fun really, but it gets easier.

Thanks soforreal and juli! :)

hadouni... I had my first greek yogurt today and baby applesauce (hospital sent me home with it) and it went down very well. I am not allowed to have coffee for 30 days, but I am not really craving it at this point.

I am sure I will get very bored of my small menu of foods for the next 3 weeks, but it is nice to not be hungry. I am just eating because I need to.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
