Road Map For Weight Loss?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if any one else got a road map for % of weight loss. My Dr said 30% excess body weight in 3 months was what is anticipated. Does that seem about right? Did you get any guide lines?

Thanks, as always.

Did not get any type of info on this after my surgery. I think it depends alot of what your weight is, how much food you take in and what types, if you exercise and other factors. Everyone is different and no 2 people lose at the same rate.

I think setting goals like that will set you up for disappointment. Try not to "expect" any milestone in any kind of time frame. Instead, Celebrate your individual experience. The weight doesn't always come off in the way we would like but it does come off. Try not to compare yourself to anyone else.

I agree with dramagirl28. I was talking about this to my partner tonight; she was asking me what my goals are. I think at this stage in the game, there's really not much more I can do to lose weight any faster... plus I'm not sure it's healthy to do so.

Maybe when I approach the fourth and final lap of my weight loss journey and things slow down again, or I stall for a period of time... maybe then there will be something I'll need to do to stay on target.

But right now, it's enough to just make sure I get in my Protein and liquids on a daily basis.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
