A Yr Out And Able To Eat A Lot More?

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody!! I am a yr out on the 24th. Have gone from 304 to 155. Yay!! But I have noticed lately that I am able to eat a lot more than before. I mean nowhere near pre surgery but more than a cup of food at a time. Here's an example

Todays food

1 hardboiled egg

3 small pieces of deer summer sausage

Mini baby bell cheese

Rollup - 2 thin slices of turkey

1 piece muenster cheese

2 slices avocado

3 small slices of Tomato

1/2 cup cottage cheese

2 chicken wing drumettes

3 or 4 small slices of 1 red potato

1/2 cup corn

Snacks:

Half an apple with pb

20 pistachios

1 piece toast with pb

Is this too much? I have eaten more than this. My hunger has returned but its mostly head hunger. I log my food on myfitnesspal.com

My NUT has told me that I need to be getting 1200 calories a day. This is alot of calories for me, I struggle with eating at this point. You are a year out and everything you have eaten is really healthy. From what I learned, if you are on a 1200 calorie diet, you will lose 2lbs a week. If it's 1500, you will lose 1 lb per week. It feels like you are in this range. CONGRATS on all your weight loss! ;)

This seems in line to me. The cottage cheese is probably allowing for some "slide". Same for the potatos and corn. If you are within your calorie range, still feel resriction, and losing weight, don't worry about it.

I'm almost two months out and I'm sure I can eat like that now. You are doing good. Keep up the good work.

I'm a month out and struggling with mushies. I'm trying to up my calories because I'm only managing about 400 max. So, hearing that it's possible to eat more is incouraging.

Looks average to me. I'm almost 8 months out and I can eat 2.5-3 oz of firm Protein, a few crackers or a /12 slice of bread, and about 1/4 cup of soft vegetables or fruit at a sitting.

For example today's menu:

8 a.m.: Caffee Latte with 8 oz. soymilk

8:30 a.m.: 1/2 slice whole wheat toast, Yogurt shake with 1 cup greek yogurt, splenda, splash of OJ, and a couple of berries

12:30 p.m.: 2 oz. chicken breast, 1 oz. lowfat cheddar cheese, 1/2 cup vegetable barley Soup

4:00 p.m.: 1.4 cup greek yogurt dip (mixed with packaged ranch dressing), 3/4 cup mixed veggies (baby carrots, broccoli, cherry tomatoes and sugar snap peas), 1 tablespoon lite Peanut Butter and 1.2 graham cracker

6:30 p.m: 3 oz. ground beef, 1/2 cup vegetable barley Soup (This is planned - I haven't had dinner yet)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
