For the first six months of my post-op weight loss, the scale was oddly consistent. I have a digital scale that measures to the tenth of a pound, but I never saw gradual drops - just drops of a pound, or a pound and a half. So, I'd go 3-4 days with no change at all, exactly the same weight down to a tenth of a pound, and then I'd lose a pound. Or I'd go 6 days seeing exactly the same number, than I'd drop a pound and a half. Mostly, I found it amusing. I mean .... seriously ... you'd think there'd be at least a little variation from day to day!

Now, for the past two weeks, I'm all over the place. Down 2 pounds, up a pound and a half, down .3, up .7, down .5.... I haven't been the same weight two days in a row for the whole two weeks!

Bizarre....

Nothing else has really changed, I'm more or less eating the same foods, getting the same amount of exercise, drinking the same amount of Water.

Maybe it's because I'm getting closer to goal? Oh well, at least it's more interesting....

:). It's all I could come up with. Maybe that will fix the weirdness.

It's worth a shot! I'd never had a digital scale before this one, and I've only had it about 8 months (is that too new to need a new battery?) I guess I figured if the battery was running low it wouldn't display, or the display would flicker, or something....

Thanks for the suggestion!!

Also, weigh yourself in the morning as soon as you get out of the bed. It's one of the ways I can tell my lowest weight before fluids come into play.

Yep, that's when I weigh, first thing in the morning.

My scale started acting weird (e.g., error messages) a couple of weeks ago. I changed the batteries and it still didn't fix it. i bought a new and improved scale. I hope yours is just batteries.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
