Exercise After Sleeve And Hiatal Hernia Surgery?

Recommended Posts

They found a hiatal hernia during my pre-op workups and so I had that taken care of at the same time. I have been reading that where the HH is concerned, I'm to avoid abdominal work and workouts that exercise core muscles for weeks or even months. Can this really be true? I have participated in a boot camp program that I really love on and off for the last couple of years and she works in a lot of horizontal conditioning/training plus traditional calisthenics, both of which focus on strengthening the core.

Has anyone else dealt with this?

I vaguely remember being told not to do abdominal focused exercise after my hiatial hernia repair too. (Mine was Dec 14th.) I don't know when you can. I do know that you should be careful. I was cleared for light exercise. (i am about a month out)

Yes, this is good advice, you don't want to tear anything loose before it's healed up properly. AGive yourself a few months off and work on walking or swimming.or some other low impact excercise.

I too had a hh repair at the time of my vsg on Sept. 14th. No one ever said anything to me about abdominal exercises. I'll sure ask. I'm probably post op long enough now.
