Sleeve Secret? What Do You Say?

Recommended Posts

I would tell them that I want just something light and order a bowl of Soup. I do not feel that I need to explain my food choices to anyone and especially to a waiter or waitress. It is none of their business what I order or what I eat. If they continue to question my choices I would excuse myself and speak to the head person at the restuarant.

Now here's someone that I am in agreeance with! LOL It's freaking NO ONE'S business. How RUDE of someone to say it in the first place. If I am not complaining to you about my food, then it's sufficient - go on about your waitressing business! :ciappa:

It's so weird how not only is my body changing, but my mind is. Because I used to worry so much about how I would handle these questions too. And I DO order the Water, just cuz it's free and i hate plain water so I'm not tempted to drink while i eat. But I haven't had too many questions or looks and the once or twice it's happened, I just answer whatever question with "I just need a to go box thank you and smile and look away. This nicely lets them know I don't want to be questioned, and I don't owe an explanation, and I am not about to offer one. It politely dismisses them before they can get too nosey or question.

I used to think they asked questions because I had eaten so little and I am a big person, but now that I'm not as self conscious about my weight and I have more confidence, I realize they are asking because it's their job to push more food and sell more. They push appetizers, wine, Desserts, etc because it's an upsale and they are required to do it, much like some dept stores require their check out cashiers to ask if you have a credit card and if you say no, they are required to ask if you want one. I kind of resent this too, it's no ones business if I have a credit card and if I wanted one I'd ask for an application hahaha. But my point is, a lot of times it's more about them doing their job than caring whether or not we eat all our food or how big we are.

:)

I went out to a restaurant recently, right before seeing the "Cavalia" show. I was thinking that my eating one little bit of a shared appetizer and some Soup would be noticed, but here is the funny... haha... I was at a small table with 3 other women (it was a big group and we were too late to fit at the main table) and it was like a who could eat the least contest. Good lord, I probably ate as much or more then the others. Weird.

Ohmigoodnes, I find this phenomenon so weird! I have a girlfriend who is a huge foodie but tends to eat a little bit at frequent intervals. However, when I eat with her now (post surgery) she somehow aims to make sure she eats less than me, so even less than what she was eating before. I don't get it!

This isn't a competition, and the damn girl is already skinny! Why starve yourself just to be the one at the table eating the least?

Andersonlj has it on the nose. It's really none of their business. Either be polite but don't respond (just a smile works!), fib a little ("I really shouldn't have had a huge lunch earlier today"), use humor ("Does it LOOK like I need to eat more?")... regardless of the method you use, the main thing to remember is that the person is most likely asking you because it's idle chitchat or part of the standard rapport with a customer. They're not really looking for a serious answer, so don't bother giving them one.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
