Hi. I'm 5'0". I'm awaiting my insurance approval, and most likely I'll have surgery in November. I'm curious if anyone had Dr. Marc Bessler do their surgery, from NY. I'm also wondering if anyone here is experiencing any acid reflux. I've read so much about how bad it can be. I'd also love to hear about your immediate post-op experiences. Were you in pain? How bad was the pain? Was it from gas or something else... I feel like a sponge. I want to get as much information as I possibly can. I'm full of anticipation, and yes, fear too. Thanks in advance for listening to my rambling... LOL

I'm now 5 feet and 168. I feel so much better! Still a long way to go. The weight loss is so notable on us shorties. My best friend of 20 years didn't recognize me from behind the other day.

Hello all, I'm 4'11' and pre op I weighed 229 the day of my surgery May 27th I weighed 219. Today I weigh 181 so total loss 48lbs in about 4 and 1/2 months. It's a good outcome but as of last month I started having bad heartburn. I take Omeprazole 20mg twice daily and it still doesn't help. My doctor said it was because I was eating large portions than I should which is true. I started back all the way to liquids again and hoping things will change. Otherwise I have no clue what to do. These bad eating habits are coming back. It's so hard. Blahhh. Forgot to mention I had a revision from band to sleeve. I'm starting to think I should have just done the bypass ????????

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
