auntjanny 289 Posted May 30, 2015 I am 5', 8 months post op. Down 40 lbs. started around 180. I am struggling to hit below 139. Best thing I ever did. I was approved for surgery by insurance so was crazy lucky. It is not a cure, as you have heard, but a truly wonderful tool. I have avoided posting as my success has ground to a halt, but, eating healthy really does make everything so much better. Exercise too, and good sleep. I have had work drama lately and have reverted to some old bad eating habits. I am glad I checked in tonight... I look forward to hearing how your new life goes for you guys. Best wishes!!! HealthyJudy 53 Posted June 10, 2015 I'm 5'2.5" (but wanted to join here despite that extra 1/2 inch!) and I am having my surgery in 3 hours (just about to take those 3 hours before surgery pills.) Excited and scared. Seeing the amounts of weight you have all lost is so encouraging. I've lost 34 lbs presurgery and have about 100 to go to get to a really fantastic weight. I'll be very happy if I lose 80 more. Now - to get through today and the next few days -- then I'll be back home and ready to post and read and learn and be buddies with all of you. Wish me luck! grammytot 4 Posted June 12, 2015 Hi, everyone!! I'm 4ft. 10 3/4 in. tall. Five months post-op and down 64 pounds. Had surgery on my sixty-fourth birthday and it's been the BEST gift I've ever given myself! Blood pressure is normal, no more CPAP, no diabetes meds, and my knees are improving daily!!! grammytot 4 Posted June 12, 2015 @healthyjudy. Hope your surgery went well! Wishing you much success as your journey begins.
HealthyJudy 53 Posted June 12, 2015 Back home from surgery. All went so well. Hate seeing that 10 lb post surgery gain but I know it will be gone soon. Grammytot -- I started looking into this when I turned 65. Also a wonderful gift to myself. I'm hoping to get of BP meds and to see knee and back improvement as the weight drops. So excited that you lost 64 lbs in just 5 months. That is awesome!

HealthyJudy 53 Posted June 13, 2015 Someone had said that day 3 was the hardest and it is starting out that way. Maybe its from sleeping in my own bed and not having IV pain meds all night but today is the first day that I don't feel well. Just took oxycodeine for first time (I had hoped to avoid that but its needed today.) Hoping this gets better soon. Have any of you felt this on3rd day and if so, how long did pain last? under construction 24 Posted June 13, 2015 Lisa Ford 168837, what are you struggling with?
grammytot 4 Posted June 13, 2015 @@HealthyJudy The second day was the hardest day for me. I was so nauseated!! Thought I had made a huge mistake!! The best thing I did was walk. My doctor insists you walk a mile (not at one time--just in total) before you leave the hospital. That and the pain meds help. Take them before your pain is extreme!! Hang in there because it DOES get better!!
