Yay for Onderland!! I went almost to goal shopping yesterday. Went to the buckle- got in one pair of size 28 (6) jeans and the others were all 29's (8). Got some cute outfits for a trip we are taking :). I'm at 153- goal is somewhere between 130-140 (depending on how I feel)- I have huge boobs so they account for why my goal is higher than a lot of people's. My original goal was a size 8- but I really feel like I should lose more, so I am.

I'm 5 2" and I was just sleeved on July 26th. I have been having some problems and gained 17 lbs in Water weight while in the hospital. I have been home since July 31 st and I have lost all that and I'm down 3 lbs pre op plus I'm still swollen so I'm hoping to get better numbers soon.

Hello my vertically challenged friends. I would love to hear some updates on everyone's journey. I have lost slowly but that is fine with me as long as it is coming off. I am down a total of 50 pounds in 4 months. At first I was really into walking and exercising and now I have hit a not so active time. I have to get myself motivated to get moving. I'm not a lucky one with this surgery, I have had to work to lose weight it just isn't falling off. So I need some words of wisdom. I have 50 more pounds to lose and need some encouragement. I have always been one to sabotage myself and seems like I'm doing it again. Anyone else having issues with this?

Me for sure! I was in a car wreck a month ago and haven't been able to work out nor do I have the desire to do so. I have lost a about 35 lbs since surgery 4 months ago. I have about 20-30 lbs left to go to reach my range goal of 120-130. Every pound I have lost I had to bust my ass for!! Blood sweat and tears. I'm trying to motivate myself but its hard when I don't hate the way I look with clothes on but clothes off its a disaster! I need to tone and get with it ASAP!

I know what you mean. I'm loosing but slowly. When I had my surgery (July 26, 2013) I took off work for three weeks and walked everyday on my treadmill but now that I am back to work it's just to tiring to do often anymore. We also have been dealing with a family emergency this last week and have been spending the majority of our time at the hospital, now that things aren't as serious I have to get caught up on things at home and work. There just doesn't seem to be time for any exercise let alone grocery shopping! I go for my check up in a few days and I hope they can help answer a few questions about my energy levels so that I can get in more exercise. I'm only 2 months post op and only down 28 lbs, a total of 42 lbs if you count the liquid pre op diet. I think I lost 17 lbs my first month which means I've only lost 9 lbs the second month and I believe it's because, well this last week we have been eating hospital food and fast food and because I haven't been exercising like I should. I would love any advise as well and I'm willing to pass along what the doctors tell me. Good luck to you!

...I have lost slowly but that is fine with me as long as it is coming off. I am down a total of 50 pounds in 4 months..........

Thank you for this post! Some days, seems like the weight is coming off too slowly for what I put my body through.....surgery was 8/6, down 26 pounds since surgery......but I remind myself I'd never have lost this weight if it wasn't for surgery.

Sabotage, you say? I was this weight 7 years ago, after following a strict, Dr. supvervised weight loss plan that went belly up.......then had some family issues.......and between the two, I really indulged in comfort eating........yeah, maintenance scares the stuffing out of me......but can't worry about it now.....I need to get there first LOL Thanks again!

I have a question for my fellow vertically challenged folks. I see many folks mention "losing slowly." Is this because you have less to lose to start with? Or is this happening because folks are short. I assume the former, but....

Also, for the slow losers, have you noticed your skin keeping up with your weight loss?

I don't think it has alot to do with amount of weight one needs to lose but one's own body and metabolism. I could stand to lose 100 pounds, that is my wishful thinking goal. I would be happy with anything under 150. As far as losing slow, there was a group of us that had the surgery within 2 days of each other. Everybody at the first weight in, after surgery, dropped 10 pounds or more, me I lost 4 pounds. It has been that way ever since. My average is 2 pounds a week, where most others will lose closer to 5 pounds. At first it was really frustrating but this is my journey and as long as the numbers are going down on the scale then I'm happy. As far as the skin, I believe I have faired better than others. The problem I'm having is the Hair loss. I have to clean out the shower drain every morning so the Water can drain. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW LONG THIS LASTS? I think I'm gonna end up bald :(

Dawn0429, I was sleeved 02/29/2012, I lost 20 the first month, 10 the second and then it dropped to about 8-10 a month. I chugged along slowly and lost 100. I think 50 of that was my hair. Okay not quite, but I lost at least 1/2 of my hair, which was a horrible blow, I had long to my waist, straight blonde hair. I was a wee bit vain about it. Anyhow, it stopped around March of this year, so about a year post op. You could see my scalp all over my head. However it grew in quickly. I did cut my hair and I have a pixie now, which I am growing out, but my hair is back to it's original thickness.

So it will stop and for me it came back.

(I'm also pregnant and have noticed that I have my usual pregnancy hair, just shorter.)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
