Seeking Buddies 5'2" & Under

Recommended Posts

I like "not your mother's jeans" quite a bit.....I had to go down a size.....they come in petites, however, my store didn't carry them, so I bought a regular and just hemmed them up myself (at that price, they should have been hemmed for me LOL) I'm 5'1, and the waist to crotch measurement was fine....no low rise there......good luck!

I'm 5 foot 2 inches and 66 years old. Highest weight 225.5, surgery Nov. 12, 2012, and current weight is 149.4-150.8. Depends on the hour I think!! I wore 2x or 22/24 and today I was wearing a size 14 skort, and medium top. Need to take my measurements again, as it's been awhile. Goal weight is 130. I already wear less than I weighed after having my 2 girls who are now 41 and 39 so am pleased with that. I have to try on everything, because it depends on the brand. Not buying any more jeans until fall...Will wear my capris, shorts and some 16P hand me down slacks that I had shortening. Would love to find out where people buy their jeans.

Thanks for the ideas! I notice that the crotch/rise is either too high or too short on most things, so I'm willing to shop around a bit to find something that works. I can tailor most other things to get just the right fit (though I won't lie - I hate shelling out for that over and over again!) but that's one area that really needs to be perfect without alterations.

If anyone is the D.C./NoVA area and needs super short clothes I do have some. I looked into shipping them before but it's just too expensive. I have a lot of 18/20, a very big lot of 14/16 and another good sized lot of 10/12 things. I also have a good sized lot of S/6-M/8 maternity clothes. I'll post on the clothing exchange, but in case anyone in my area and very short is looking for clothes I'm letting them go for a darn good price.

I second the silver jeans- they are expensive ($88-108 per pair), but they fit great. I wear the suki's. If you buy them at Nordstrom they will hem the length and keep the original hem. I have had good luck with buying things at kohls- I bought a cute pair of coral skinny capris there last week- they are the Vera wang brand. Then I bought some shorts that are apt. 9. I also have had good luck with (as unflattering as a lot of their items are) the sweetheart fit at old navy for capris and the boyfriend cut shorts. Where are you wanting the rise? I like it right at belly button. And these brands all work for me. I'm an hourglass and so I have pretty large hips and these all work well. My last measurements were 44-32-44. I wear a size 10 in all of these brands.

I'm 5'0"' date=' my highest weight was 272. My weight this morning was 200.2. I'm scheduled for surgery on August 1st. After losing and regaining over 100 pounds 3 separate times, I knew I just couldn't do it again. I'm tired of riding this roller coaster. I'm hoping the sleeve will finally put an end to my binge and volume eating. I'm 60 years old so I'm afraid it's going to be a slow process, but I've been fighting this battle for 55 years. I've never eaten like a "normal" person. My whole life I've either been on a diet or bingeing. The support on this site is amazing. I know I'm gonna make it.[/quote']

You have already had a huge success!!!

You are going to do just fine and your going to love the Sleeve!!!

I'm 10 months post op. went in at 215 and today at 125

Hey fellow shorties! I'm gonna post a question that's probably OT but you're the ones that would know best!

I'm having trouble shopping for pants. I am short (5'1" and some change) with a super short inseam (29" for heels) and a longer torso.

What is UP with the rise on pants and jeans nowadays? Seriously - if I buy petite/short/x-short pants I find they have this teeny rise and while I'm not too concerned about muffin top' date=' it's just not flattering AT ALL. I feel like everything gives me a mommy pooch.

Anyway, any recommends for great brands that fit short gals? I can alter things and I've had to do that in the past (even for short inseams I usually have to hem) but the cost of that adds up over time.

Just wondering what you guys do. I love that I can wear smaller pants but for goodness' sake I want them to be flattering. It means diddly-squat to wear small clothes if they don't look right!

So maybe a brand that makes higher rises without looking like something fresh out of the eighties? No tiny Jordache pockets, acid wash or pegged pants, thank you. I don't care if my fifteen year old stepdaughter thinks it's cool...I know better. :)

I have the same problem. Honestly, you can find mid rise jeans at Old Navy.

All of the low rise jeans give me a muffin top. YUCK!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
