For Breakfast-I was watching Rachel Ray-$40 a day-she travels and eats out for $40 a day-and she was in the Hamptons (I think) and had a fritatta for Breakfast that was an individual portion, made in a muffin pan. I found a recipe for it and a WW version and so I made a batch. Mine have cheese, some finely chopped veggies and ham in them (along with the egg, of course) all scrambled then put in the muffin pan to bake. They turn out to be about 2 oz each. The thing I liked is that sometimes, I have to eat on the run and this is great! Connie

That sounds good. I need something like that, because I, too, am always on the run! Thanks for sharing.

My approach to liveing the rest of my life banded was to change my eating habits. For brekkie, I have a cup of coffee w/ skim milk and take my Vitamin, Calcium, Biotin. 30 mins later, an Adkins Advantage bar. If I want a mid-mornng snack, I'll grab a Carb Master yogurt. lunch, turkey and low fat swiss or american cheese wrap. Perhaps a piece of fruit midafternoon. Supper, a slice of quiche or spaghetti(no pasta), really whatever I want, just small portioned. I CHOOSE not to eat breads, white rice, refined white flour in any form and no refined white sugar. I try my best not to consume empty calories. Lots of Crystal Lite Pink lemonade and H2O. If I go out to eat, I simply eat healthy things and ask for a container for my "encore meal". I try my best not to fight the band, altho sometimes my hard-headed rebellious nature wins, but its rare. I try to go with the flow, be mindful of what I'm eating and why and things go pretty smoothly.

Wow! This is all very interesting. I like Socal (I think) cannot eat "regular food" . It would take me all day to get down a lean cuisine meal and then I probably would pb at least once. My frustration is the amount of junk food I can eat and those stupid mashed potatoes that I live on. I know I am not geting the Vitamins I need in my diet so I have resorted to cooking some of the recipies on the Mushie food thread.

I wouldnt change anything but I have to say it is very frustrating.

I think lots of people still like to be on a program - I dont personally.

Today I ate:

breakfast - a bowl of muesli and then half an hour later I ate a piece of toast (veeerry slowly) while I was drying my hair. I eat less the entire day with a good carb filled breaki inside me, but I cant just sit down and eat it all at once. That lot took me an hour.

lunch - 3 pieces of sushi - I discovered sushi and me are no longer friends since my last fill, it just was very difficult to eat. Once it went down I had a yogurt.

Late afternoon - a snack sized Cherry Ripe.

Dinner: a chicken shaslick and a tiny bit of mixed rice/peas. A glass of wine.

Jacqui,

I have a silly question for you! Do you drink the glass of wine with the meal or after a half an hour or so?

I was given a book by my lap band surgeon by Paul O'Brien who states that a glass of wine with a meal is fine and in fact can be beneficial. (He states especially an Australian chiraz or merlot :) ) but he doesn't differentiate if you should drink it after your solids or with.

Thanks for your input!

Lisa

I havent had the lap band as of yet but this is what I usually eat in a day

Breakfast - Yoghurt - honey buzz - low fat (but recently realised it has a lot of sugar) to take my tablets with, that taken with half a glass of orange/apple juice - depending on what is in the fridge

lunch - Sandwich with a little bit of butter with ham, cheese and Tomato usually but if something else is in the fridge from dinner the previous night I will have that

dinner is usually meat with either a sald or vegetables, depends, usually for meat we have, sausages, steak, chicken snitzel (sp?) and then we always have a salad or vegetables with it - those being, broccoli, cauliflower, squash, zucchini, carrots, peas, corn, Beans - heaps of stuffand if we have salad it has lettuce, cheese, cucumber, capsicum, carrot, tomatoes, and sometimes canned corn, then if we have that sometimes we also have beetroot, tinned pineapple, asparagus etc - Overall my eating isn't bad it's my laziness lol =(

I am amazed and envious at the replies here that say they still eat bread, rice and Cereal. Before my surgery my doctor told me to avoid those same foods. The major reason was that they get stuck. I have since tested that and found it to be true.

So instead I opt for a Protein Drink for breakfast consisting of 4 oz soymilk, 4 oz Water ( to thin it out ) 2 scoops of Protein Powder, one package of sugar free Carnation instant breakfast, a dash of Spirulina and sometimes throw in fresh, frozen fruit.< /p>

It works for me. For lunch I have grilled, moist chicken with chopped tomatoes and cilantro, dinner is whatever soft meat I crave with some veggies, fresh guacamole. It does vary, I dont eat the same foods every day, or in that combination. Is anyone else doing something similar?

hi, Roseann here. I just got out of the hospital 2 wks. ago, diagnosed with diverticulitis. Now am adding more Fiber to foods, can't really get Pasta down anymore, rice is a no-no. I am making a Protein shake today, with a banana added, 20 g Protein powder, 10 g Fiber added with FiberSure, all in a Slim Fast shake. I don't have much tolerance for dried meat, so I add some mayo, I also make chick pea and white bean salad, by adding oil and vinegar, and then eat them cold. I try to eat some fruit also.Dinner is small piece of meat, a few bites of veggies. I am trying to add more fiber. Before the hospital, I was doing all ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, hard cheeses, meat, no fruit. No wonder I was so constipated and put into the hospital. FIBER is so important, I can see that now. So please be careful in what you choose to eat, carbs only make you crave more. I don't want to end up back in there with those horrible stomach pains anymore. I am confused also about what to eat. You guys are giving me ideas. Thanks.

Anyone out there who has diverticulitis?

I have diverticulitis that is only active if I eat corn kernels - so I haven't had corn on the cob, canned, creamed or pop corn for over 4 years now...

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
