High Protein Pancakes

Recommended Posts

I know that we are supposed to avoid carbs, but if you just love pancakes and cant stop (like me) then I have a great way to enjoy them while getting in ALOT of Protein.< /p>

betty crocker complete pancake mix (makes 3 pancakes)

1/3 cup of the mix (5 grams protein)

1 egg mixed in (6 grams protein)

1/2 scoop Protein Shake mix ( I used Matrix bananas and cream flavor) (11.5 grams protein)

1/4 cup lowfat milk (3.5 grams of protein)

mix it all together and fry it up. I dont even use Syrup because the flavor from the shake mix makes it taste yummy all on its own.

in all it is 26 grams of protein, and 25 grams of carbs for those who count them.

I absolutely loved them, and I made them the same for my kids and hubby and they didnt even know the difference, they thought that they were regular old pancakes with banana flavor---hehe, I love sneeking healthy in!

this sound so good. I just got two recipes today for pumpkin bread and cinnamin swirl bread. If they are really good, I'll post it here. Yayyyyy! Thanks ;)

I bought a package of the "Big Train" low carb pancake mix at a local health food store, and I think it's fabulous. It definitely has a sort of whole-grain taste, but other than that the tast and texture are spot-on. 11g Protein, 7g net carbs per serving, which is a little high, but I'm ok with it as an occasional treat. Sometimes I add some chopped pecans for a little extra protein - yum!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
