2 Week Post-op Check In

Good Afternoon Guys!! (it is afternoon right?? I sleep so much that my hours run into each other!!)

It's been 14 days since I was sleeved... Things are good... besides waking up w/ a cold!! I'm not sure what I should do right now... I'm staying hydrated, but I have a headache and an awful cough... My temp is hovering around 99...

Other than that, I'm doing very well... The oozing incision is slowing down (called my surgeon about it, he told me to keep it covered w/ an absorbent pad and gently squeeze when I'm in the shower)... He said...I have a lot of space (LOL!!) b/t my skin and muscle layer, thus a build up of Fluid that wants to come out.. Fairly normal for a patient of my size... They usually perform RNY on patients who need to loose over 125 lbs.. He said I was one of his largest sleeve patients ever and they usually leave an incision open on RNY patients my size (this was after he said, please don't be offended by this.. HUH??!! I know how much I weigh!! LOL)

I was like.. I understand and I'm not offended... Anyway, I went to church yesterday for an hour.. It was great seeing everybody, but I was SOOOO tired when I got home!!! Little things like showering and taking the stair (I live in a 2nd floor condo) take a lot out of me.. I was supposed to go to the grocery store today.. but, le sigh... I'm in bed w/ my bottle of Water and laptop..

I'm excited about being able to have some cream of potato Soup today!!! YES!!! LOL... my friend's a chef and she's gonna make me a pot w/ chicken... I know I have to blend it to oblivion, but anything other than crystal light and Popsicles sounds like a 5 star meal!!!

I can go on for days.. trust me.. just wanted give you all an update!!

Love and Hugs

Tina

hi favoredoneseeya.gif

sorry about your slight fever, w/headache, but at least your mending thats great.

i have to tell you that i'm jealous of you and your constant "naps" i could not sleep well cuz i had my big incision on my right side, and thats where i sleep of course. Laying down for me was totally terrible. It got better within about 5 days to sleep at night, but no way during the day.

My 5 star menu consists of Protein drink, popsicles, broth & Waterunsure.png

Glad you're coming along, glad you could go to church and see your friends - i don't know about having a friend that's a chef thoughrolleyes.gif that might be a little dangeroussmile.png Continue to get better, can't wait to see you around the Water coolershades_smile.gif

happy new year

Glad to hear you are doing well, Tina, sorry about the cold, boo.

Every day I have a nap from 1-4 pm, too, and I am wondering how I am going to survive back at work this thurs. i work from home, and my boss knows I was going to play it by ear at first, so maybe I can still fit in a short nap!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
