DanaInNewOrleans 513 Posted February 19, 2013 I had surgery 12/6 and haven't lost anything since the first week. I am down 10lbs only. Hi Nan, What is your daily menu like? Are you getting enough calories? Protein? Water? Have you spoken to your doc about it at one of your follow-up appointments?
bayareanan 24 Posted February 19, 2013 Danal, I eat about 600 cal with no,carbs other than veggies. I still need to exercise though. I weigh 300 lbs and should be dropping fast bit I,am not. My doc and nutritionist think it is because I take a lot of 3 different antipsychotics that are known for weight gain. I haven't given up though. Besides,,I can't eat much anyway. courtoomp 107 Posted February 19, 2013 I just met with my surgeon yesterday and BEGGED him to tell me a calorie and carb goal. I don't know why they are so resistant to setting concrete goals! He recommended 1100 calories and 40 carbs...but that's impossible. Protein makes you so full you can't get 1100 calories without adding carbs and fat! I guess we just have to do trial and error. It's scary to up calories and even carbs but a couple days ago when I upped both (to 850 cal and like 60 carb) I lost 2 pounds after a 2.5 week stall! As for someone posting about gaining weight with exercise...sometimes that happens esp at first. You lose when you stop exercising bc you quickly drop muscle. So stick with the exercise cause it'll bring your sexy back for sure!
Nicolanz 1,484 Posted February 19, 2013 Ugh! I don't even keep track of what I eat anymore. I know I should but what a pain in the butt! As of now, I'm up 6 pounds but my clothes are too big! I don't get it! I've decided to get rid of the scale! As long as I'm shrinking, I don't care what that number reads!!

I know medication can wreak havoc on weight loss attempts. I'm on so many meds that I am sure that all the interaction plays a roll in slow weight loss... I need to exercise more too..... SleeveandRNYchica 1,155 Posted February 20, 2013 Well when you all figure out the secret please fill me in. I have my appts tomorrow I am at 5 months and 42lbs down and that is naked so I am sure on my drs scale more like 40. I am sure he will look at me like I am crazy. I am in the gym, tracking and irritated. This is the same bs I went through pre surgery trying to figure out the right balance if calories end calories burnt yada yada ya. I didn't expect it to be this damn frustrating. I knew I would have to still work at this and no I would not have lost this much without my sleeve but it is still frustrating

I didn't expect it to be this damn frustrating. I knew I would have to still work at this and no I would not have lost this much without my sleeve but it is still frustrating I know exactly how you feel... I was not expecting magic but I did think I would lose steadily. If I was losing 2 lbs a week at a steady pace I would feel ok. I mean, I did NOT expect for it to be quite this slow when only eating 800 calories a day. I was concerned whether this would be successful because I was not having success losing weight at 1200 calories. I spoke to the surgeon about it and he reassured me that this would work because the surgery resets the body's set points. Now I am not so sure. I'm absolutely still glad I had the surgery -- if only to help control my portions so that I won't gain weight in the future. But yeah, I'm disappointed. Of course I'm not giving up --- just venting...
No game 14,437 Posted February 20, 2013 I should clarify I'm not drinking plain water.. I just can't drink that much yuck. So I drank a boat load of Mio "sweet tea" flavored water..
SleeveandRNYchica 1,155 Posted February 20, 2013 Yeah we really have no choice but to keep plugging along. It is frustrating and it is okay to vent. When I see people saying I am a slow loser and I have lost only 50lbs in 3 months it frustrates me. I would take 1.5 or 2 lb loss. The other thing is my losses are not consistent. I can't even track a so called "stall" no rhyme or reason.
Ms.AntiBand 2,984 Posted February 20, 2013 I'd be happy at a pound a week.. Hell, at the rate I'm going I'd be happy at pound a month!

When people say they're " in a stall", well, that must mean they were losing steadily then stopped....lol....I've spent almost the entire 8 weeks after surgery " in a stall".....I lose 1 pound, gain 2, lose 1, lose 2, gain 1. I have no way to even track a "stall".... in the last month I've only lost 7 pounds.
