Absolutely go see you doc, or better yet, go to the ER due to catching the infection in time. I wouldn't want that infection to spread any further. Take care of yourself. Please let us know what happen when you see your doc (i'm hoping your go to the ER). Get help ASAP...... I'm worried for you. It's sad to see you struggle like this. :(

I'm so sorry this is happening to you! Get to the ER and have that looked at. If I were you, I would definitely be complaining to you surgeon about the fact that they

Left your drainage tube in for you to take care of yourself! Get better soon!

YES, go directly to the ER. The fact that you have an infection in an incision that had a drain is serious -- the infection can travel along the tubing deep into your body.

You do need antibiotics but you need the RIGHT ones, prescribed specifically for this situation, and you need a full course... not antibiotics left over from a previous treatment. Incorrect usage of antibiotics is one of the reasons why we have super-resistant bacteria like the kind that cause MRSA now... this is not a lecture aimed at you personally, but please do not fool around with infected surgical incisions. Go now!

I think I would have it checked out at the ER also. The last thing you want to deal with is an infection that has spread! Take care of yourself over there! :-)

What about your parents? Can they meet you at the ER? What about the children's dad? This is something that shouldn't wait until tomorrow. You might have to take the kids with you. I hope you go to the ER. :(

Are you running a fever? If not, I think you are okay to wait until tomorrow. If you are...is there an urgent care center near you? Might be easier with the kids someplace like that rather than an ER.

Good, it's a localized infection then. You should be okay tonight and call your doc in the a.m. They will most likely clean it out again, maybe do a culture, and might change your antibiotics. You'll be fine.

Mommamea,

I developed an abscess (infection) at the site my drain was located. I do not want to frighten you but, this is NOTHING to mess around with. The infection did not go through my peritoneal cavity and after I was taken in for a CT scan, to check for leak they did emergency surgery. I NEVER HAD A FEVER. I am still healing with an open wound in my tummy. My sleeve surgery was 11/1, my second surgery was 11/16 it has cost more than the original surgery and set me back in many ways.

Please is there anyway you can go to the ER? I wanted to wait a day and my nurse said she would not advise that, my hubby drove me to ER 3 hours away and a few hours after that I had emergency surgery. Infection is serious.

My prayers are with you, please let is know. If you want to discuss anything further, please just send me a note.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
