peacequeen 434 Posted January 1, 2012 I'm 6 days out and kinda expecting to move around pretty well and not suffer as much pain. However, I have a softball size area to the right of my belly button that hurts every which way I move. It's a stinging..like burning and stabbing pain. It has never eased up and it takes my breath away sometimes. I was just wondering if this is normal?
SKCUNNINGHAM 298 Posted January 1, 2012 I would call my surgeon's office, describe the pain and ask if it was to be expected. I had nothing like that. Any kind of pain that takes my breath away - I'm calling my doc.
LoserMama 37 Posted January 2, 2012 I would call too. I moved slower than most in pain recovery, i think. I found I had to take the prescription meds longer than I see most people say they needed them. Are you still using them?
peacequeen 434 Posted January 2, 2012 Yes, I'm still taking them,,I have to. This stabbing pain is very uncomfortable. I am calling in the morning to make my follow up appt so I'll ask then..unless I end up at the ER tonight. Thanks yall!
ab76307 22 Posted January 2, 2012 That is where your stomach came out... They place an extra stitch there so every time I moved it pulled/ stringed but the pa told me it was totally normal. It lasted about a total of four weeks until the stich dissolved.
Countess 5 Posted January 2, 2012 I am having pain in the same area and i am 5days out. My doc also said it was bcuz he took the stomach out there. I am stupidly trying to stay off the drugs so i am starting back up on the tonight. Good luck i hope everything is ok!! A hot water bottle helps me.
BunnyLove 28 Posted January 2, 2012 If this is where your stomach was removed, the pain may be normal for this long. My surgeon made a video for me and the amount of violence involved is more extreme than I expected. If not, it's possible that you have nerve irritation in this location. It's not unusual for nerves to be upset when multiple incisions are made; I have complete loss of sensation in a fairly large area two weeks post-op, but it may recover within several months. Regardless, talk with your doctor and insist on being seen if the pain continues to be more than you were told to expect. You're your own best advocate and should always listen to your instincts.
