Hi All,

I am a southern born and raised Louisiana girl and a tomboy...lol. I am a pipeline operater for a wonderful company. I have been happily married to my Jarhead turned cop for 9 yrs. We have no children but we do have 4 parrots that we love as our children. My hobby is my chickens, just love taking care of them, hey, fresh protien rich eggs given to me daily :). I have been battling weight my entire life and while i loose fat it comes back and brings some friends with it. I am scheduled for my surgery on Feb 1st. My gift to myself when I reach 150lbs is to go skydiving again. I am so ready to live a normal life again. I already ordered a belt with a big buckle (those hurt when ya have a fat roll rolling over the top of them). I have it laying out on my dresser waiting for the day when I can wear it. Cant wait to share sucess with all of you.

I'm 40 and have 3 boys - 8, 11, 13. The middle one has Aspergers. I have been married for almost 18 years with many ups and downs but we're doing OK right now. I came to the States 15 years ago from Germany and I'm incredibly homesick still. I was always a bit chubby but the weight piled on all at once when I moved to the US. So many changes in life style and by the time I was here 2 years I had gained 60 lbs. Been trying to diet ever since.

My mom passed almost 8 years ago from cancer and I was able to get to Germany in time to be with her when she died. My world is still in pieces. It seems like every day is a struggle between trying to manage my behavioral autistic son, my emotionally unsupportive husband and my weight.

I work part time as an optician and for the first time in years I said no to the "Biggest Loser" challenge at work. Every January we start the weight loss challenge, I rock it and by summer I gain it all back plus 10lbs. I haven't told anyone about the sx except a friend who had bypass a couple of weeks ago, my husband, my sister and two friends who work out with me. My sister is trying not to show it but I can tell she doesn't understand. She used to weigh 300lbs and lost 130, maintaining ok. Good for her... My two workout buddies gave me "the look" when I told them, so I am keeping my mouth shut to everyone else lol because it's extremely discouraging.

2016 will be MY year. I need to love myself again and not be exhausted and on pain anymore. My sciatica is bad and my knees are hurting. I hate my fat suit.

Hi all! I have been a lurker here for a while. Just officially joined this morning.

I am waiting until my last meeting with my nutritionist at the end of February to be cleared for surgery. I have been overweight since kindergarten, and struggling with my weight all my adult life.

I am a mother of two and have been married to my supportive husband for nearly fifteen years.

My primary doctor is the one who recommended that I gets VGS surgery last year at my physical. Three of my coworkers have recently undergone VGS, I have watched them and seen varying degrees of dedication and varying degrees of success.

I am nervous but fairly confident in my ability to make this work.

Hi, I am Linda. I'm 53. I live in NJ. I am a nurse. I've worked in labor and delivery for almost 30 years. I have 2 sons 28 and 23. I am married to a wonderful guy for alittle over 5 years now. I have to admit I don't have many hobbies. I never have any energy and my legs hurt. I've been overweight most of my adult life. I'm so tired of the weight struggle. I'm looking forward to a new life. Surgery scheduled for 1/19/16.

Hello, my name is Teresa and I'm 44, with 3 children and a fiancé. My children are from my first marriage to a Southern Baptist preacher. I only mentioned that because if you understand what that means then it's easier to understand that I finally have the freedom to do what's best for me.

I had looked into this type of weight loss tool many years ago but if I couldn't get my thyroid or depression under control, then the great impact this surgery could have, might be lost. So I have waited.

When the opportunity came last year, my insurance would not cover it, not even for the medical reasons I have. So I put up a GoFund and got a little help. However, not enough for it to be completed in the US.

I'm 9 days out for my surgery in Puerto Vallarta and I'm nervous as hell. I'm nervous that I will screw this up somehow and be right back where I started. I'm also nervous about this new direction and path. What will change or won't change when I'm at a healthy weight? Will it change those around me?

Sorry for the rambling but... This is who I am. ????

Hello I am 1 month and almost a week post op. I have struggled with my weight my whole life. After an embarrassing airplane ride I made the decision that I was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. I decided to have gastric sleeve surgery on the 14th of December 2015. Yeah I know a week before Christmas. It has not been easy not that I want to eat, but finding foods that my new stomach will like has been a challenge. At my heaviest I was 360. Pre surgery diet I was 334 Day of surgery I was 321 and at a month I am 294. I am 5'6 I think if people really knew the struggle of having weight loss surgery, it would not get the negative easy way out stigma it gets. I'm finally past the regret stage. Everyone's journey is different so for me it was really hard to get anything to stay down. I'm much better now still have a hard time finding a Protein Shake that I like. Overall I'm happier with my choice.

Hi I'm Christina.. I have 3 beautiful daughters and 4 wonderful grandchildren. I work for the town I live in as their budget officer. I have lived in this town for 27 years, I was married into it but now have been divorced for the past 3 years. I now have a very supportive and hard working boyfriend. We have been rehabbing an old farmhouse for the last 2 years, we just starting living there this past October full time. Love my life except the weight. I have been looking into WLS for the past 2 years, when my insurance changed recently it was now or never. I was sleeved 11/30 so far have lost 35 # . It's had its challenges but for the most part it's been exciting for me. I'm so glad I found this site and to know I have support when ever I need it !

Hello! My name is Liz I'm 27 years old, I have a degree in Marketing and Management. I work as an analyst for an Agricultural company. I'm single (it's essentially a perpetual state). I help to take care of my 10 year old nephew because his parents are incapable. I like to travel when I can but my weight is something that keeps me from fully enjoying it and keeps me from doing it more often. I've been to Chicago, New York, D.C., Philly, St Augustine (FL), Chattanooga (TN), New Orleans, Biloxi, Germany, London and Paris. Paris was my favorite, I went several years ago for New Years. I can be kind of nerdy (I think it comes with the territory of being fat my entire life and growing up with an older nerdy brother) - I like some video games, typically Mario Brothers (pretty competitive at Mario Kart ;) ). I can be a bit of a netflix addict at times. I have a 70 lb dog that is ridiculous - and I love him. I did a first time home buyers program that required me to work on my own home providing "sweat equity" - I spent my weekends painting and caulking and cleaning my home during the construction process. I enjoy surprising people who think I can't or won't work hard. I put in 8 - 10 hours days on my home and was one of the only people who they were confident would pass come inspection time. I'm at a comfortable place in my life, well everything but my weight. At 27 my knees are mad at me, I lose my breathe way too easily. I want to be able to be active and I can't wait to have a tool to help me get there :)

My name is Ann and I'm from San Antonio, Tx. I had the sleeve 12/29/15. I have lost 20 lbs. I try to not weigh to often as it will make me nuts!

I am currently on the soft diet, but trying different foods within the guidelines. I seem to be tolerating foods pretty well. I love my scrambled and hard boiled eggs.

Yesterday, I tried a banana and didn't do well with it at all. So those are off the list for now. I have no problem getting Water down as I was at 64 oz prior to surgery. So that was a plus! The downside for me has been the Constipation. I had a week of real misery. I started taking Colace stool softener and it really has helped.

I can't stand the shakes, or the Vitamins. Have replaced the vitamins with a O.t.c. Multi with the same vitamins as the bariatric. Plus I take 1500mg of Calcium.< /p>

This is quite a journey. I have both O.A., and R.A., so am looking forward to my joints feeling better.

Good luck to all!

Big meals and red wine are my down falls.

Pre op I lost and was 291 on the day of surgery. I am now 276 and lost 31pounds since Jan 1st.

Loving my sleeve - still in the purée stage :)

Hello! My name is Christina, I'm 38 and I'm from the metro Detroit area. I've been overweight my whole life, always, always the chubby one. Well now I'm a lot more than just chubby.

I work as a hair stylist and although I love what I do more than anything it's getting very hard to do the physical aspect of it. My knees hurt, my back hurts, I get the sweats...its just unpleasant.

I'm married almost 10 years and have two awesome little girls. They are so much fun and I can't wait to be able to do more with them, instead of just watching them.

I'm pre-op, hoping for an April or May surgery date!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
