My doctor told me that Tylenol is fine, but ibuprofen is a no-no.

My dr told me use Tylenol, but I sprained my neck and it didn't help. I called and asked if I could take enteric coated aspirin- he said yes! Enteric coated aspirin is aspirin with a coating, to protect the stomach. You can find it where they have regular aspirin.Enteric coated aspirin did reduce the pain (& swelling).

Yes to Tylenol and its generic Acetomenephen. I take the Tylenol Arthritis for headaches and arthritis pain.

No to Advil, Ibuprofen (generic Advil), Aleve or it's generic equivalents. These drugs are a group of drugs called NSAID's - non-steroidal anti-inflamatory drugs. They are hard on the stomach (even regular sized ones) and should not be taken regulary by sleeved patients.

My surgeon's Physician Assistant told me (after I sprained my ankle) if I wanted to use Advil OCCASIONALLY (not routinely) after a sprain, take TUMS (several) before the Advil, and then a couple of more after the Advil. I was six months out and my incision was healed. So far, I haven't done this - stuck with the Tylenol Arthritis.

Aspirin is also an NSAID - my doctor has said No to it like Advil and Aleve. I guess the coated one for occasional use (not routine use) is probably OK once your stomach is totally healed.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
