Alex,

Just wanted to thank you for starting this site. To have the vision and foresight to grow this into thousands who support and gain information on a topic that impacts millions of people in the world of all walks of life, is wonderful.

As you make subtle changes to the site we do notice and it is always in the spirit of making things better. I for one look forward to the evolution. To the moderators, most of you share your experiences and help others to get started, where else can one find support like that?

To all who give their time, you are paying it forward. Have a Happy New Year!

Sandy, you are an absolute sweetheart! And you know what, you are right, Alex is an amazing man! I owe so much to him and couldn't imagine having gone through first my band and now my sleeve without the wonderful forums he has provided us.

Agreed!!! Thank you Alex!!

I also want to thank each individual poster here, because without all of us - all of these websites would not be as successful. I personally don't think I could've reached my goal without all this excellent support.

Susan - I do so appreciate you, Irene, Tiff, Ken (sorry missing others) - the one thing I wanted when I joined this site was to find folks who had real life experience with the sleeve. With the formation of this site it makes it possible first, but the people make the difference.

My daughter has the lap band (almost 2 years),has lost 70 lbs and is happy. I knew that was not for me, with the sleeve procedure as a stand alone, it is new. i consider all of us the pioneers and hope that others in time will continue to look to us like I looked to you, Tiff and Irene etc. I wanted to know there were real people I could take my questions to and you all have been there. I live in a remote location without access to support groups. Before I joined I am certain there were others but, the regulars who take time out to post do help like Lissa, Longer-Life,Libbee, Rootman, Feed your Eye, thinoneday, ThomasCPA etc these folks are all making a difference for someone and that is fantastic! I am just very appreciative is all.

Take care.

Yes, I too deeply appreciate all the support I have received from others on this site. My surgeon's office didn't tell me to take a PPI even though I was telling them I was really hungry since the day of the surgery. Thank you everyone out there for being you. Love ya all! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
